Hello Jim! Per the Use and Care Guide for this model: Your freezer operates most efficiently when located in an area where the temperature will not fall below 40°F (5°C). Place your freezer in a location where the temperature will not fall below this recommended temperature.
So we cannot recommend this model be placed in a Garage setting. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.

Just a thought, during the period of the year your garage is in single digits, unplug the freezer and leave the door open.
