Hi Tom the WOD51ES4ES can be wired in 4-wire or 3-wire home configurations. The Installation Guide will have step by step wiring instructions for you. Please note, Use the 4-wire cable from home power supply in the U.S. where local codes do not allow grounding through neutral, New Branch circuit installations (1996 NEC), mobile homes and recreational vehicles, new construction and in Canada. Please consult your local code for additional guidelines.

This unit can be installed with a 3 or 4 wire electrical connection. The details for the connections will be covered in the manual that ships with the unit.
