“My red light came on indicating my water filter needed to be replaced. However my ice maker does not work but still can get water. Do I have to replace water filter to get ice? Have only had frig for 6 months.”

If you have the whirlpool that I have removed the filter and see if that helps because mine didn't have a filter for a while before I figured out where it went and I got ice and water with no issues. I have the little door underneath the freezer door next to the floor where my filter pushes in and pulls out not sure what you have
