Yes and it is quite easy. First you open the large insulating door, then you press up on a little lever in the lower right corner of the ice bucket and lift up. Putting it back is just as easy. When you first get the frig, you should discard the first three "dumps" of ice so you will get practice with this right away. (you will also want to dump the first three gallons of water before the frig starts making ice..... the new water tube needs to be thoroughly flushed.

Little hard for me to push the latch to open the door to get the ice container out, but I am not that tall and besides I am 84 so a little hard for me to maneuver it. But I am sure a younger person would be fine for them, don't think I would want a young child doing it as it is a little tricky to open and then to get the container out, looks like you could damage it. But a lot easier than the last fridge I had where it was very hard to get it out and besides it took up a lot of space.
