• Yes, it can work with exhaust or without it - as a recirculating fan. But you will have to buy their charcoal filters for recirculation separately. Generic filters do not fit, their brand filters are expensive and out of stock. I just bought a charcoal filter material at Amazon for like $15, cut out right size pieces and stuck them under aluminum mesh filter that comes with this hood. This hood has great looks, but fan is quite a bit noisy

• We do not have ventilation to the outside with the use of this hood. You have to buy filters. It just hooks up to electricity.
