To my understanding, after asking this same question of my Geek Squad repair man is no. There is no way to do a prolonged soak. If you open the lid, to stop the cycle and allow items to soak, during any cycle the water will pump out and you have to start over. I use a five gallon bucket, filled partially with water, add the stained items and let them soak overnight, or the 6 hours, then take them out and put them in the washer to go through the cycle then mob up the water spilled during the transfer. Unfortunately this machine is not at all worthy of the term "Advanced". Try washing sheets, or anything, in 3 inches of water! BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD WHIRLPOOL, this type of machine is a dud!
