My directions that came with my new Whirlpool range says I must wipe down the inside of the over with warm soapy water to eliminate the excess coatings from the manufacturing state. Once I did that and heated the oven up a couple of times before using, the smell went away. There was some smoke prior to the wipe down of the entire. It since has disappeared. See instructions.

Mine is noticable but certainly not loud ! But then again we all have individual hearing sensitivities... Loud for one may be just a whisper to another. If the smell doesn't stop after a few uses call support. If it smells like rotten eggs: TURN OFF THE UNIT, AIR OUT THE HOUSE AND CALL SUPPORT AFTER THE GAS HAS CLEARED, YOU'VE GOT A GAS LEAK.

Not as loud from top burners but will be a similar sound but poof sound will be louder due to its in a closed area. Not sure about the smell unless you spilled something or you are just smelling the gas.

The normal operation of the Whirlpool® Range will include several noises that may be heard each time the bake or broil burners ignite during the cooking cycle. Gas valves may make a "popping" sound when opening or closing, igniters will "click" several times until a flame is sensed, and a "poof" sound is heard when a bake or broil burner ignites. Also, odors and smoke are normal when the oven is used the first few times or when it is heavily soiled. The more your Whirlpool® Range is used, the quicker these things will go away. We hope this answers your questions!
