Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The cook top under the grates is painted black. The grates themselves are very heavy and made of black iron. The grates are not painted like the stove top. I just used the stove finally this past weekend and it works amazing well. The burner sizes make a big difference when it pertains to what size pot/pan you are using. I haven't used the oven yet but I am sure it works just as awesome as the stove top.
