Hi Ann. I agree. Newer ranges and all appliances for that matter are not built as before. Handling the drawer, the material seems thinner than the material used surrounding the actual range, so it does feel somewhat flimsy. The depth inside is about 23"x9"x16" (WxHxD). We use it to store only baking pans and sheets -- flatter items. Can't imagine it being used for much more. Hope this helps...
