Hello, Newer Top Load washers do use considerably less water than older traditional washers. Cycles such as Heavy Duty or Bulky items will fill with more water than the more energy-efficient cycles, such as normal. Load Size selection will also change the amount of water. During rinse, most cycles use a spray rinse. However, by using the Fabric Softener option, or the Extra Rinse option, the washer will use a deep fill rinse. NOTE: Cycles are designed for specific clothing items, and using them other than instructed in the Use and Care Guide may result in less than optimal performance. Using these cycles may increase the amount of time and energy used, and may not meet the standard Energy Star® Standards. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In almost all the loads I have used my machine since owning it last fall (now it's June), the machine has barely filled with enough water to cover the clothes. This is always with the selection of the High water level. Sometimes I think the clothes aren't even completely wet or get slightly wet, so I don't feel they get very clean. I understand the push for high efficiency to some degree but when you feel you have to rewash your clothes, it takes the efficiency out of it. I don't recommend this machine.
