I dont know the actual db, but I will say the fan is much higher output than my old unit and you definitely hear the fan, doesnt bother me as my main concern is performance - and it (really performs!) but I will say even on lowest fan speed the fan is definitely audible but to me not objectionable, but you know best what your needs are - and again the cooling performance is (very) good. On the other hand the compressor is about the quietest one ive ever heard, its very quiet. Unless youre using it in an environment that requires quiet like bedroom or maybe office etc. I would not discount this unit too quickly based on its loudness, which I say just because its cooling is surprisingly powerful - but if its serious quiet you need no its not the quietest - but to me its music to my ears on a hot muggy mid west day. I would also say this Whirlpool has excellent overall build quality, I paid a bit more than some off brands but im SO glad I did its well worth the money.
