Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Even if the door, sheet metal on back and top were removed you would be left with the 27" that it is side to side. So no better option, and "taking it apart" leave you with having to put it back together... better to gently remove the door casing, which would probably leave you with repairing plaster of an "Older" home. As my Father said to me at least 68 ago of my 74 years.... "measure twice and saw once.... or you may cut it twice and it will still be too short".
