Hello Jean, this does have a filter that needs to be cleaned regularly. We recommend cleaning the inside of the Dishwasher with affresh cleaner. You can view it at the link below. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does. I just received the dishwasher so haven't done that. My old one did not have a filter . I have reached in and pulled it out and not as bad as I thought it would be. I am elderly so worried about that. We do rinse our dishes off a little so that might help and we won't have to do it that often. I hope that answers you question.
