Yes. I was hesitant about that too being African American. It works well. Just make sure you use beard oil before using it. I recommend Scotch Porter beard products. I set the temp to 410 F.

I brought one, was the best 20 I spent. I enjoyed it so much, I brought a smaller one to travel with. I don't even know what I would do without it. It is very sturdy and gets very hot. Get a nice beard oil or grease and you will be set.
