“How does this work? Does the person who has hearing difficulty wear both? or do they wear the headphones, but the amplifier with the microphone is worn by the person visiting or talking or maybe placed near the TV? Interested for my hearing impaired son.”

I have hearing aids but dont wear them while using this. Simply plug in headphone on the unit i put it on my lap and turn on to watch tv I'm sitting about 12 ft from tv and comes in loud and clear Hope this helps
