Installation instructions state distance from stovetop to range hood's base should be 27-33". Since the RA-3030 is 6" in height from top to bottom, this means the distance from stovetop to bottom of cabinet above range hood should be 33-39". But, if you want to purchase a stainless steel backsplash panel (either 30" or 36" wide), I'd note that Windster sells them in 30, 36 and 42" heights, so you'll want to think through precisely where you want a stainless backsplash to start = probably snug against the back of the stove frame (not the top of the grates!) and have it extend to the very bottom of the range hood.
