Hello, Thank you for reaching out with your question. I'll be happy to help clarify this for you. To your question: our dash cam uses a loop recording feature. As long as the unit is powered on, it will start recording automatically. Videos are saved in segments according to your chosen recording time (1 minute / 2 minutes / 3 minutes). When the memory card is full, the oldest videos will be automatically overwritten. I hope this information is helpful.
