• Thank you for your question. No, Xbox Series S is not compatible with external Blu-ray players. To play physical game discs, we recommend getting Xbox Series X instead.

• The answer is a hard no, a specific combination of software and hardware is required. Plugging in any random blu-ray wouldn’t have the drm controls or the speed needed for consistent reading. The gpu also would need to be upgraded along with other factors. Cost would very easily exceed the Series X. Plus it would need MS proprietary internal/external disk drive along with software which I doubt is easy to obtain.
