I own both and it really depends on what you are looking for. The expansion card for the Series S is almost as expensive as the console itself. I think it kind of defeats the point of the Series S to then spend another $200+ on a memory card. I opted just to deal with the Series S' small on board memory (A little over 300gb) and use it primarily as a game pass machine. If you have the money anyway, and provided you can find one, I would recommend getting the Series X with it's 1TB SSD (works out to around 800gb of actual storage) as it is the more powerful machine. I personally am fine with just managing the onboard storage until the price of the Seagate expansion cards come down.
