It's not cordless, you have to plug it, but the cord is pretty long.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It has an AC power adapter - as far as I can tell, the thing isn't rechargeable, but in an ordinary desktop setting that shouldn't be an issue. The upside is it won't tap USB power from the computer when it's plugged into AC. It is definitely an upgrade from my last extender in that it's quite a bit faster and transparent (the computer doesn't see the extender itself as a device - at least not in my situation). I recommend it as a great way to gain 3 more USB ports.
