If your batteries die on the lock, you can hold a 9V battery up to the terminal located beneath the keypad, enter your code and get inside to change the lock's batteries. The app will also alert you several times before this happens. You absolutely can choose to not use the Wi-Fi. For Bluetooth, you can disable Auto-Unlock in the app which will save battery life if you choose to.
