The auto lock option has worked flawlessly for me for 8 months. You do have the option to turn it off if desired. I have it turned on and the door locks itself after 1 minute. It also has a blue tooth unlock option which works with my apple watch or iPhone and allows it to detect me pulling up to the door after I've been out of the area. Love this feature if carrying groceries etc. I can unlock it via bluetooth, key, touch pad code or the best biometrics with the tip of my finger

There are occasional times when it loses the Bluetooth connection and one has to unlock with the keypad. The feature only works if you go a certain distance from the house (I think 200 meters or so). I really love it as I never have to take my keys out when I return to the house. BTW- the most recent app firmware update includes battery life, which is really helpful.
