No, the deadbolt is beveled and aligning it is very easy. It literally is so quiet during actuation that at times I have to look to be sure it has latched. The auto lock feature (place your hand over the keypad as you leave) can be set to play a sound when the deadbolt is in place. This is a great piece of hardware!
