“My hdmi-arc port on my sharp tv is already being used by hopper3 hookup.....do I use another non-arc hdmi port or the optical digital audio input on the back of the tv? Not sure I can relocate the dish hopper3 input”

Optical cable would be your best bet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The ARC HDMI is really just to accommodate additional components connected to the TV to play through the sound bar. So it don’t really matter if you don’t use it, you will still get the same awesome sound. Not sure why your dish has to be connected to the ARC HDMI.
