“I am connected to my Direct tv box and can hear/see it. But when I switch to am/fm, tv display goes away. I can’t listen to tv and tuner at same time? I still want the option to switch to HDMI and listen to game on receiver . Please help. Game week”

Some higher-end A/V receivers have the option to mix-and-match audio and video inputs but more basic models like this one do not. Even on those that do, you usually have to dive down into a menu system to make these assignments - it isn't all that simple. And since most of the time you're likely to want to listen to the audio input from the same device as the video input, you would have to swap back and forth each time you wanted to listen to the radio or not while watching the TV.
