I had blown-in insulation in my ceiling where I installed these speakers. When I cut the hole that was drawn on the ceiling with the included template, the insulation stayed in place for the most part. Very little fell out. Then just push the speaker up into the insulation when you mount it. Worked fine for the two pairs that I've installed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It depends on the insulation. Although the insulation may not damage the speaker, I'm not sure if it would impair the sound reproduction. With loose (blown) insulation, you might consider creating a box around the speaker with cardboard to keep the insulation off the speaker.
