• If a "built-in pre-amp" means that it uses "regular" audio inputs instead of the traditional low-power inputs for turntables, then yes. I've connected CD, Compact Cassette and 8-Track to this receiver.

• Although I have my turn table hooked up to another unit you can hook one up to the Yamaha.
