Hello folks I have RV-V675 with Bose Acoustimass and two pioneer power subs and it has been great so I grabbed this one RX-V381BL for the kids TV/game room and it sounds just as good. Sounds as good with Harman Kardon HKTS 16 speakers (for a fraction of the price) Minus the rumble of two subs. Sure there may be some pouting involved but Its nice to know if my system goes down I can highjack the kids and get the same high quality Yamaha sound.

I was not expecting this level of quality from a "bottom of the barrel" A/V receiver when I purchased it to replace a much more expensive Marantz receiver. All I can say is wow! It has absolutely no problems powering my big ol' NHT 2.9's. The 5.1 setup was a snap and didn't need any adjustments afterward unlike most, with the exception of speaker size. Everything works perfectly and no problems with the remote. HDMI has no handshake issues at all. I wanted to try out the built in Burr Brown 192 DACs so I hooked up my Auralic Aries Mini music streamer and listened to some TIDAL hi-res music and once again, completely amazed.. The Aries has the highly regarded ESS Sabre DAC built in. Bypassing theirs and using the Yamaha's required a digital coax connection instead of the analog rca's. After some run in time, I couldn't tell any difference between the two. Clean, smooth perfect sound is all I can say. Bass is tight and punchy, mids are just right and highs are smooth and clean without being raspy and brittle.. Truthfully, this receiver sounds like a much higher model in their lineup. If this is Yamaha's base model, I'd love to experience their top model. This has got to be the best sounding receiver I've heard yet and I've owned many. Hats off to Yamaha.

I needed a new HD receiver for my home theater set up with multiple, high speed HDMI inputs. I have a 5.1 surround sound system, so this fit the bill. Set up was easy. Plug and play. The best feature is the auto calibrating microphone that comes with the unit. Once all connections were made, I plugged in the mic and started the system calibration. 60 seconds later the receiver had completed testing my room acoustics and had adjusted the sound setting to best work with my space. It sounds really good. I'm using three of the hdmi inputs and Bluetooth for my music. switching is easy. The unit works well with a Logitech remote and doesn't have a ton of functions or buttons so it's simple to use. I don't listen to AM/FM radio much so I didn't even connect the included antenna. A solid, entry level receiver perfect for home use, at a great price. Don't expect a ton of features like on more pro units, like multiple output options or 7.2 surround sound.

I needed a new HD receiver with blue tooth for my home theater. I was happy to get such a great receiver at this price with all the features and 700 watts. Set up was easy. The controls are clear. One nice feature is the auto calibrating microphone that comes with the unit. Calibrates the receiver to my room acoustics. It sounds really good. Just a Great basic receiver perfect for home use, at a great price.

Purchased this receiver as an upgrade for an older Yamaha receiver. I am very pleased with the performance of this unit. It does 4K and 3D pass through. Has on screen volume display and produces good surround sound. I am no Audiophile, but I see no reason to spend any more on a receiver when this one performs so well. Movies and video games are outstanding with this unit, highly recommend for the budget conscious video entertainment enthusiast!

I went into the store to purchase a receiver to go with my new HD TV. Had good experience with an older Onkyo, but it was not HDMI capable.I was looking at another Onkyo, when the sales person suggested that I might consider the Yamaha. I like the Yamaha brand aad so I checked it out. This model has more than enough power for my small room and since I'm going with a 5.1 surround system, all of the perks that I wanted at a significant savings over what I was looking at. Got the Yamaha home and installation took 15 minutes, and I was enjoying a Blu-ray movie. Thanks

The Yamaha is very easy to set up, and the YPAO feature makes optimizing the speakers setting and placement a breeze. It's got plenty of power to drive most mid-eff. speakers, and ample inputs for your components. The sound is engaging, albeit the bass can be a bit over-powering (this can be adjusted). The front display panel is very intuitive and easy to read. I use a 5.1 setup. Being able to stream mp3 from a smart phone directly to the receiver is very cool and the Burr-Brown DAC's in the Yamaha yield high-quality sound.

I've had fancier receivers in the past but they've actually been too complicated for me. This receiver allows you to use you old analog rca cords plus hdm cords and it has Bluetooth capabilities. I thought my old speakers were shot - and then I got this receiver and they sound as good as they did 20 years ago. This receiver is relatively simple and extremely effective.

Excellent receiver for the price and gives that movie theater experience right in your living room. Can hook up up to 4 HDMI cables and control everything through the receiver. Easy to connect with basic speaker wire. Simple setup and volume adjustment. Can increase/decrease speaker output and maximize the sound for the layout of your living room. Would highly recommend.

I bought this receiver to replace another brand that quit working. It's very easy to set up. I'm still tweaking the sound a bit as I have a large (25x25) living room with cathedral ceilings. It has enough power to drive some Klipsch R26's where you can't here the person sitting next to you yell. I use it mostly for movies and the surround separation is exceptional.

I purchased this receiver to replace a Yamaha receiver I bought in February 2016. The older receiver was supposed to have UHD capability, but somewhere along the way the 4k encryption code changed. After upgrading the DirecTV receivers and buying new Sony UHD TV expecting to see a crystal clear picture, We were really disappointed. I spent some time online with Best Buy customer service representative who answered my questions and helped me find this new receiver. It is perfect. There is really good surround sound and all our devices perform flawlessly. A very important component of this receiver is that all 4 HDMI ports have 4k capability. So multiple 4k devices can be added. We have Amazon and DirecTV streaming in UHD for amazing picture clarity and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. The receiver is strong enough to power Infinity tower L/R speakers, Polk Audio center and rear speakers and a Klipsch 100w subwoofer. The microphone used to set up the system captured and balanced the sound for our room. The whole process was really easy. We could not be happier. I don't feel too bad about buying two receivers in one year since the price of both is equivalent to the price of a high end receiver. I should have done better research on the first one.

Perfect No-Frills Receiver for 4K HDR

I bought this receiver to pair with a projector and was able to get a really good open box deal from Best Buy. I wanted to make sure I got a receiver that could pass through 4K HDR signals from my Xbox One S and other devices I get in the future and this is exactly what I was looking for. The on-screen menus are simple to navigate and the setup was effortless. I may want to upgrade to a Dolby Atmos receiver down the line, but for now 5.1 is more than enough for me. I have this paired with Yamaha's NS-P40BL 5.1 speakers and it sounds great. It doesn't have a lot of extra features like WiFi or Chromecast, but I've got all that stuff on my other devices. I should note that while this model does support HDR10, it doesn't support the other HDR formats. That's fine for me since the projector I have this hooked up to only supports HDR10 anyway, but if you really want to future-proof yourself you may want to look at the newer model RX-V383, which also supports Dolby Vision and HLG. As far as I'm aware at this time there aren't any external devices that output these HDR formats.

This receiver has really good sound and was easy to connect. 2.2 compliance so 4K will not be a problem. Bluetooth works better than expected , but not until you get your phone connected.(had to do a internet search) because the manual instructions were not working .

I'm a bit biased - I like Yamaha receivers. The other unit I have is well over 15 years old and is still ahead of its time. This unit is priced a tad lower than the one included in a "System in a box'" they feature in store - a 650W unit - and this one has more features. I purchased speakers separately and saved about $100 over buying the aforementioned system in a box. The auto set-up for sound quality is a snap to set up. And you can easily alter the the auto settings to meet your individual tastes. The TV OUT HDMI feature is great. I would recommend this receiver to friends and enemies alike.
