You will need an external phono preamp to connect a turntable to this receiver. I chose the U-Turn Audio Pluto Preamp, and am very happy with the sound. It cost $99, but you can find preamps for as low as $50.

Even though the turntable has RCA connectors, the way the sound passes through is different, so do not to attempt to connect it directly. It has a much higher level than a CD player for example, and it will not work. There are turntables that have the proper interface built into them now, as well as ones that connect via a USB cable, so that may be an alternative, if you have not purchased a turntable yet.
