I said "yes" earlier but found out, by trying it myself (and spending on an extra set of speaker cables), that you cannot bi-amp the main speaker AND use zone 2. Although the receiver has enough connections to wire both, in the "Power Amp Assign" menu you can only select one or the other. If you select "Bi-Amp" here, the zone 2 speakers are silent. If you bi-amp the speakers and use the "7.1 + 1 Zone" or the "5.1.2 + 1 Zone" setting, you get your zone 2 speakers but your main speakers get different signals for the tweeter and the woofer when you play 7.1 or 5.1.2 audio which is not what you want. For passive bi-amping, both terminals on the speaker should get the same audio signal delivered through two wires. So the short answer is, no, this feature is NOT supported. Unfortunately, the manual does not tell you this explicitly.

If you use the Bi Amp feature you cannot use extra zones and the unit will only output in 5.1. You can only use one of the extra speaker connections at a time. If you use number 1 it will turn off number two and vice versa. One of them is for Bi amping or the rear speakers for 7.1 dolby. The other one is for front presence speakers or dolby Atmos speakers. You need to know what set up you are going to use before hooking up the speakers. Then configure the set up menu correctly to match. There is also no way to adjust the bi amp levels.

Please try again later.Yes, it took me while to figure it out but you have to make sure to go into the advanced settings in the set-up app and enable the Zone 2, two speakers in another room option. I had an older Yamaha receiver so the interface is similar, the difference with new one is the MusicCast app which works great because I now can control the music from the phone app while I'm out on the patio. The downside is that you have to turn on Zone 2, then the "room" on the MusicCast app so there's an extra step there, still a pretty good tradeoff for being able to control the music from outside.
