Yes. Either a stereo receiver, or integrated amp or a multi channel AV receiver.

This unit has RCA outputs in the back to connect it to a preamplifier and then to an amplifier with speakers connected to it. Or the CD player can be connected to an integrated amplifier like those used for home theater purposes. Either way, an amplifier is needed in order to listen to your CDs using this player to hear them through speakers. I don't believe you can hook up headphones to this to listen to CDs.

I have mine hooked up to my Yamaha receiver works great. So I Can't answer your Question Truthfully. Sorry but I don't think you do ?.
