• No. Keyboard bottom and iPad top are permanently affixed by the case hinge. The ZAGG Rugged Book does allow you to detach the keyboard and top (held together by strong magnets). If you don't need the keyboard, get a good cover.

• yes, but no meaning to detach as the cover is very flexible
