Does the keyboard detach? null

The Keyboard and cover DO NOT SEPARATE

No the case is one piece. If you take the tablet out of the case to use it the Bluetooth connection shuts off and you would need to use the keyboard on the iPad to type.

No because it's all one piece. The iPad pops out of the top piece.

The I Pad pops out if you want to use it as a tablet.

It opens and closes like a laptop. The iPad can be placed and removed from the top half. It fits inside really nicely. But I don't think the keyboard detaches from the top half of the unit tho, there looks to be a metal rod where it's hinged at.

Yes, it does detach but you have to take it out of the case and that leaves your pad vulnerable.
