Kiss brings the Metal with "Revenge"

Kiss "Revenge" is an album dedicated by Kiss to the late Eric Carr. The "Carr Jam 1981" is nearly three minutes of Eric Carr being featured with an amazing drum solo which was recorded in 1981. "Domino" is a vintage Gene Simmons song that has the lyrics, attitude and Metal zest that only Gene can pull off. "God Gave Rock N' Roll To You II" is a prolific Kiss Heavy Metal anthem, that is certain to leave an inspired impression on any Metal fan. Paul Stanley sings this song with lot's of heart and soul, the chorus is an instant sing along. Overall this is a solid Kiss album to own, a Kiss lineup that played awesome together and it really shows on "Revenge". Bruce Kulick played lead guitar and Eric Singer played drums with vocals on "Revenge". The liner notes are 12 pages of complete lyrics with credits and a dedication to Eric Carr. There are two really cool photos of this Kiss lineup in the liner notes as well.

    KISS's Second Great Comeback

After KISS tried to find success with following the 80's rock trends between '85-'89, but it was obvious this wasn't working. After tragically losing drummer Eric Carr, KISS brought in veteran rock drummer Eric Singer and used the songwriting talents of former band mate Vinnie Vincent. KISS shows they mean business on this album; starting with the borderline thrash metal track "Unholy." Most of this album is raw hard rock, with only two ballads, albeit good ones. The best tracks besides "Unholy" are "Take it Off," "Spit," and "I Just Wanna." Guitarist Bruce Kulick really shines on this album and Vinnie's writing picks up where he left off with the band. If you are skeptical about the "non-makeup" KISS, this may be the album to get.

If you dropped KISS when they dropped the makeup, you made a mistake. Revenge is one of the bets albums they ever put out. From the surprisingly heavy lead off, Unholy, the album stands up to their classics and pulls KISS into the right direction. Domino is a classic in the making and will be on my playlist forever. Don't miss out on this one cause you think KISS needs the makeup.

KISS' Revenge is the best of the non-makeup albums.
