Customers consistently note the impressive sound quality and awesome bass of the Echo Sub Subwoofer, especially considering its small size and ease of use. The design is also well-received for blending in well. However, some customers have experienced connectivity issues and compatibility problems. Additionally, a few customers find the voice-controlled volume adjustment to be less than ideal.

Good Bass, Pretty Easy Setup

This sub has decent bass, especially for the sub (be sure to tell Alexa to turn the bass all the way up if you want the most bass possible). I have it setup as a stereo pair with two second gen echos, and it still works fine with multi room music. Setup was pretty easy through the Alexa app. The sub is next to the wall in an open concept colonial with one echo on one side of the house and the other on the opposite end. The sub, while not heart pounding, produces a good quality low end, and adds a lot to the music. If your like me, and like to listen to music all day while your home, you will definitely appreciate how much better this makes your music coming from your Echo sounds!

I am so pleasantly surprised. I have it matched with two 2nd gen Echoes and it is amazing! I read other reviews, and my expectations weren’t high. I wanted sound for our in-law / guest bedroom. I didn’t want to buy a new receiver or surround sound system for just audio. I did want music you could feel. This worked, and setup was super easy with Alexa app.

It Needs Improvement

How can I best describe the Amazon Sub? It needs improvement. Minimalist instructions are provided on how to set it up. In fact, the quick set up guide is worthless. Use the Amazon Alexa app (on either your cell phone or computer) to set-up the Amazon Sub exactly as you have set up your other Amazon Echo devices (i.e., plug it in, look for the blinking orange light--on the back of the sub, and connect it to your wi-fi). You will know it is connected when its name appears in your device list. Next, unpair the two devices that you want to pair to you sub (you can skip this step if you never paired anything in the first place). Now, locate your Amazon Sub in your device list and click on it. Then follow the onscreen directions in Amazon Alexa app to pair/repair your devices and connect them to the subwoofer. If you already have an Everywhere Group set up, all your devices should continue to play—but the subwoofer can (at this time) only be connected to two devices in your Everywhere group. I have a portable speaker stand and placed my woofer on. It improved the quality of the sound (but that is a purely subjective opinion). Settings on the Amazon Sub are minimal. You can increase and/or decrease the bass and treble. Hopefully, more settings are added in the future along with the ability to pair more than two devices to the sub.

The product is good, but I can't make it work with the Echo Studio connected to the TV at the same time
