This is the second one that I purchased. The first was for me, and the second was a Christmas gift for my son. Very easy to set up, and the comfort is excellent, especially with my big head. The battery life is long, even after a long night of gaming. The charging station is vastly superior to the previous design, where the charging fits almost every time. I gave it 5 stars because I got the headset on a huge sale. I would take off half a star if I had to pay full price. If you see a deal, I highly recommend.

In short; these sound incredible and you CAN in fact update the firmware on the Xbox via the Astro Command center app. There you can also use the EQ to adjust the sound profiles. The battery lasts about 20 hours also which is good segway to the cons. The base station is barely an improvement over the gen 3 A50’s. The contacts are frustratingly difficult to have set once the headset is placed. The only other con i have is that just like gen 3 A50s, this one also tends to just randomly disconnect, not while in use, but when you’re done gaming with your gaming sesh for the time being, if you were to go back on a few hours later the same day or the next day, it’ll randomly just not be synced up properly where i constantly have to either reset the headset or switch the mode from Xbox to PC for a few moments and then switching it back to Xbox will it reconnect and sync properly.

I knocked a star off for the price tag. $300 is ridiculous. That being said.. huge upgrade from my Logitech g935. First and foremost. Docking station? Yes please. That's exactly what I want when I'm not wearing them. A nice place to store them, that also charges their batteries. I should never have to plug a USB cable into these things. Have these connected to my PC via SPDIF.
They are extremely comfortable. The advanced Parametric EQ options are amazing. Also, I'm glad it doesn't use DTS for virtual surround. Using DTS in my g935's I could not hear footsteps in overwatch, so I left the headphones in stereo and used the Dolby Atmos option within the game.
Now I can use dolby atmos with everything with the press of a button and I hear footsteps pretty clearly, though i may have some EQ tweaking to do yet.
I hope these are the last pair of headphones I buy for a long time. FIrst impressions are, they're awesome.

This headset is my favorite of all time. Prior, I was using Cloud Flights wireless, and they were not 7.1, but had great quality sound and were comfortable. I used to have the Steelseries Wireless H, which have since been replaced by the Arctis Wireless Pros (i think) and I used to love them especially with their swappable batteries, but the sound never felt as good as I wanted them to be. I will say that I am biased towards deep rich base in my gaming (and movie watching), but still need good treble. I do not care too much for balance or how it is meant to be experience. I care for ooomph and extravagance. I love these headsets. They are my perfect replacements and so far the battery has been more than acceptable (i can get multiple days of long gaming sessions), and mic im told is crystal clear. I take zoom calls for work on these and have not had a complaint. I also game multiplayer and use discord and have not had any complaints. I did not test compared to any others.
I cannot speak to quality control, but best buy has a 45 day return policy which is exceptional. I am about a couple of days away from that and have only experienced greatness with these cans and couldn't recommend them any more than I do. Top marks.
I tried Gen 2s I think of these headphones and was not satisfied with the issues back then: couldn't turn off with a physical button and battery life was mehhhh. Also no charging station. These issues have been fixed.
I will say that I have had the headset not work when turned on a couple of times. But all I had to do was unplug and replug the usb from the base/receiver, effectively resetting the headset.
300 bucks for a headset is not cheap, and I think its worth noting that, but I am fully satisfied with the product.
NOTE: I am using this exclusively for pc gaming via the optical output from my pc. Cannot speak to how it works on PS4/5.

Good headset overall, ive had it for awhile now and Ive not run into any problems with battery life at all, it sounds great, the mic is not the best but gets the job done. As far as comfortably goes this and most astro headsets are the most comfortable headsets you can buy, I had the wired headset but wanted wireless and chose astro just because I knew it would be extremely comfortable. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I had to buy this headset 3 times, 1st time the battery wouldnt charge, second time the mic wouldnt work, but the 3rd one is the one i have now and i havent had any problems like that. And also the price is pretty high, but i think its worth it.

Best headphones I’ve ever used. The quality and battery life are great. My friends say the audio from their side also sounds good. They are really comfortable as well. Only complaint is that you can’t charge them while in use as it charges on the charging doc. Overall great headphones for gaming and movies!

Pros
- Excellent audio quality
- Spacial audio is the best I've had in a gaming headset
- Incredibly comfy
- Decent quality mic
Cons
- Software is a bit weird
- Voice and Game audio channels are very weird to configure.
Ex) Tap voice button, change volume, only voice is affected. Tap Game button, change volume, both voice and game are affected.
- Using a stereo audio app (like VoIP software) with the Dolby surround setting turned on has such a massive quality difference I just leave it turned off
- Had a weird issue for a while where the headset would just lose connectivity to the base and nothing I'd do would re-pair it except for doing some weird factory reset option.

Dont let the poor reviews fool you. This headset is awesome. First thing I wanna say is when you pick this up DO NOT update the firmware. Astro has a bug in the new firmware that’ll cause problems with the base station freezing and the Xbox not detecting it. Just unbox it and hook it up and enjoy! The headset has a very good design and it’s super comfortable. Very easy to wear for extended periods of gaming. If you had the gen 3 a50s you’ll know what to expect. Sound quality is excellent. The virtual Dolby does a very good job at letting you hear what’s going on all around you. The sound is nice and crisp and it has very good bass and direction to it. If you really wanna take it up a notch activate the 2 year atmos for headphones license that comes in the box and prepare to have your mind blown! If you’re on the fence about these I’d say go for it. Worse case scenario if you get them and don’t like them you can always return them but once you hear what this headset is capable of you won’t wanna take them back. I’m very picky about my game audio and I love this headset. Get them...you won’t be disappointed! The only con is the price. 300 dollars for a video game headset is expensive but you gotta pay to play. This headset is worth every penny

Got these to replace an aging wired Astro TR40 setup that I had for some time. You don't really understand the step up in your audio game with Astro until you move into them, and it just becomes the gold standard. Everything about the sound- qulaity, controlability via the mixamp, all the different depth and dimension qualities you can apply, they all just change everything about how you immerse yourself in the game. Structurally, I don't think I've had a more comfortable headset. I've had different very comfortable over-ear cups (both leather/leatherette and cloth), this combination of padding and cover just hit the spot. The tension in the headband is just right, i can sit for hours and game and it just doesn't get uncomfortable. The combination of the sturdy metal vertical arms and the flexible lightweight plastic earpiecs and headband add up to a well weighted headest that sits with a presence on your head, but not with a weight. All things Astro I expected I got and then some.....now wireless. Definite gamechanger. Still the great audio experience, but I get a full days use completely untethered. I haven't maxed out the range yet, but apparently the entire bottom floor of my house is in it. The charging base is a huge plus as well, my last wireless headset was strictly corded, and as expected the connection became loose over time. Having a charge base where you just drop the headset in to sit is a great design, and looks great on the desk. Couldn't be happier, while it is on of the higher priced headsets out there, Astro remains the bar to beat for a reason.

I have owned the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Astro. Each last for over 5 years so their quality is SO good. I just came from the SteelSeries Arctis Pro 9s which only lasted about 2 1/2 years before they broke down You can look online to see about their thin plastic hinges that wear under normal use. Anyways back to the Astros, glad to be back to them. I forgot how good the audio quality is on these, they really are night and day over the Arctis Pro 9s with the Astros have more bass and mids. I was worried about not having the swappable battery which was the real reason I wanted the Arctis Pros but boy do these keep a charge and putting them on the dock when you walk away for a couple mins really charges them quick. I can game at time for 10+ hours plus at a time when really determined and never have found myself without a charge.
The only downside to these is that they are not as comfortable for long gaming as the Arctis Pro 9s. There is a modkit that Astro sells for the A50s which really did solve this issue. The cups in the modkit are leather and the headband which was the discomfort is now leather with a better foam. I highly recommend getting the modkit. After you get the kit then these headsets are FLAWLESS.

Light weight and very comfortable. As a female i always hate it when headphones slide down my hair, but these do not. They also don't get caught in my hair or pull stray strands. The sound on these is great, and the range even better. Ive gone upstairs to the kitchen from the basement and had no disconnect issues. Worth the cost hands down.

Near Perfect gaming headset.
Pros: Big head friendly aka me. Looks great, sounds great, great software for PC, great mic, solid battery life just remember to charge before bed will last you all day.
Cons: Slightly heavy but for me it didn't bother me at all, Top headband foam piece wears out and will pop off after so long, and sometimes the wireless signal will make crackly noise doesn't happen always just rare instances, sometimes won't connect to receiver again rarely happens, if you have glasses it will hurt after very long gaming sessions but usually don't bother at least for me.
Long time user and fan of Astro overall great IMO the best gaming headset. However, I am looking to upgrade to Audio headphones I recommend this for streamers on PC for higher quality but if your just a gamer get these.

Very good headphones but I feel they are overpriced. They are not night and day better than something half the price. The only redeeming quality over another headset is being able to dock and charge them. If that is worth an extra $150 then great, if not there are a few more comfortable and equally as good sounding options at $200 and below

IF you can get past needing to use a micro USB and the optical cable for console use, the A50s is an almost perfect wireless gaming headset. The quality of sound isn't near perfect but that ability to change your sound settings in the Command Center app is a great feature that can amplify the gaming experience and listening experience for everything else like for music and watching videos. The battery life is great and the charging dock has a minimal footprint on any surface you place it on. The microphone is notoriously not as well for any Astro headset I have owned in the past but it still is usable. The design and materials used give the headset a premium feeling with the mix of metal and matte wrapped plastics which also lends to the headset having a durable frame which has survived many drops on hard flooring and with the mod kit makes a very comfortable wear for long periods of time. I even have had higher quality in terms of sound and fit such as the JBL Quantum One but I easily went back to this headset because of the wireless capability and the better to customize sound profiles.

Headset is great but firmware bugs are annoying

This is a great headset but there is one major issue that exists since the first firmware update keeps it from being what it could be. Granted this version of the headset has only been out for a short amount of time but it is unacceptable to be so slow at sending out a fix for a premium product.
I have had this headset for a few weeks now playing on a variety of games including Gears 5 and Borderlands 3. I am also using the Xbox version.
First the good:
-Solid build: Looks and feels like a like a premium headset should. Heavier than other headsets I have owned but not in a bad way.
-Sound: Excellent once you find and adjust the right audio profile. I thought my previous headset was pretty decent (Turtle Beach 550x) but the clarity and 'surround' sound improvement on these is definitely noticeable.
-Buttons: Easy to switch between sound profiles, Dolby sound, and change volume without taking it off or hunting around. My Turtle Beach sets were always hard to change settings without accidentally hitting another button.
- Battery: Will last for appox. 15 hrs. I have only charged it once and it wasn't completely drained so their battery length estimates seem to be accurate.
- Base Station - Convenient way to charge your headset as well as see the charge level, sound profile, and Dolby indicator. I love that you don't have to guess how much charge you have left or what sound setting you are on.
- Astro App - You can download the app right to the Xbox to change the sound profiles.
Now for the bad:
- Xbox not recognizing it: There is a bug with the latest firmware where the headset is not recognized when you first turn on the Xbox. You have to unplug the Base Station, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in and then it will be recognized. Sometimes I have to do it more than once for it to pick it up. It is easy to do but it is really annoying being how much the headset costs. This is a known issue with the Xbox version but no word on when it will be updated yet.
-Ear cups: Pretty comfortable but the material could be a little better. I find them a little warm since it is almost fleece like. My Turtle Beach set had a much better breathable type of fabric.
- Base station - worst part about it is that it is a little big. It is a trade-off with it also being a charging station. My previous headsets had a small transmitter that could be tucked away where this requires a bigger footprint.
-Sound Profiles - the ones they had pre-loaded were not great. There is a list I found on reddit that VASTLY improved the sound. How can they not have Sound Engineers tune them for games?
-Astro App - not the most user friendly unless you are familiar with sound mixing.
- I don't like you need to plug the Base Station into a PC to update the firmware initially. I am not sure if you can do it through the Xbox app since I wasn't aware of it until after I did the update. If it can be, it is not well spelled out that way anywhere.
I did not have the low volume issue that some people have complained about but I think changing the sound profiles solves that.
I have also not fully tested the mic yet. I do like that you can flip it up to mute but there is no indicator that it is actually muted. It seems like it is but it would be nice to have something that confirms it. They should have put a mute indicator on the Base Station as well.
So overall, I do like the headset once I get it recognized and I am using it. Once they resolve the major bug of the Xbox not recognizing it I think it will be the best headset I have owned and close to perfect in terms of sound and design. At that point I think there will only be a need of some minor improvements.

Good sound(not great). Excellent comfort. The first pair I had broke within a month or so. The headband is poorly designed, held together by a small piece of plastic. Astro customer service was excellent, however. They sent a second pair out right away, telling me to keep the first set. The headband can be "fixed" but replacing the headset was appreciated. No issues with this second pair.
