Customers frequently mention the lightweight design, strong suction, and ease of use as significant advantages of the Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum. Many appreciate its effective cleaning on carpets and other floor types, along with its powerful performance. However, a common concern is the battery life, which some users feel could be improved. A few also noted challenges related to storage of the vacuum and its attachments.

I really like the vacuum. It is lightweight and fairly powerful. It automatically adjusts between hardwood and carpet. The main problem is that it runs out of charge in less than 20 minutes, not near the 40 minutes advertised. I can only vacuum half the main floor at a time.

Great vacuum for quick cleanups

I got this Shark cordless vacuum to replace a corded vacuum and was happily surprised by the features and length of time the charge lasted. The vacuum has a sensor to identify when there is more dirt on the floor and automatically turns up the suction.
We have a two story and although lugging the corded vacuum wasn't a big deal, this one is much more convenient to use. You don't have to continually unplug and move the cord to a new location when you switch rooms. That alone saves time on the overall cleaning regimen. I was able to vacuum the entire house without running out of charge also, so 30-40 minutes shouldn't be a problem.
I've owned a couple of cordless vacuums over the years and most of them lack the suction of a corded vacuum. Although that is true of this one also, the difference isn't as big as my previous vacuums have been. Add on the extra suction when extra dirt is detected and this one performs well against it's corded competition.
Another nice feature I wasn't sure I would like was the handle. This handle is more akin to a cordless drill than a typical vacuum cleaner. I quickly got used to it and actually like this better than the alternative...maybe because I am much more familiar with a drill than a vacuum cleaner (at least that is what my wife would say).
As with most stick vacuums, there is an option to use a shorter attachment to clean in tight places. One thing this one doesn't have is a brush attachment. I don't use it frequently but that would come in handy cleaning in your car or the sofa.
Overall, I really like this cordless vacuum and would recommend it. Probably won't get your really deep down dirt, but for normal day to day use, it does the job well.

Shark Detect Easy to Use, Efficient, Quick Charge

My old stick vacuum died just as December began and I found myself using a heavy commercial corded model that worked great but just didn't suit my needs, especially since I had to plug it in in 3 different outlets as I vacuumed the house. I bought this Shark Detect Pro because I knew the brand and it looked like a powerful upgrade from my previous Shark Navigator. I put it together in only a few minutes with several clicks. The machine charged completely over the dinner hour and I began vacuuming soon after. The convenient Quick Start instructions were sufficient -- I used mostly the automatic setting with "boost" for a couple of trouble spots. It works equally well on carpets, area rugs and luxury vinyl floors. And they're beautiful! The three-year old carpeting looks brand new. The machine recharges quickly and it's easy to empty. It's by far one of the best gifts I've ever received.

Good little vac for a small home

I really like Shark products. They just make things right. I've used and owned quite a few of their vacuums and they work well and hold up just as well. The Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum is likewise a well designed machine but with some caveats.
To be entirely fair, this is a small stick vac. I get the impression that this would be a great addition to any apartment or condo. This is not to say it doesn't work well, it does. It's the smaller compact size that makes me think this. None of these statements are negative, they just describe what I feel would be the best application for this machine. Let's start with the head unit. The brush bar is made of a soft felt-like material with spiraled rubber fins. This is made to work on both hard floors and carpet, but works far better on hard floors. If you have a larger home, this would be an ideal stick vac for your kitchen area or entryway. The head is very maneuverable and because of it's small size can get in between kitchen chairs and around cabinets very easily. The brush bar can be removed from the head unit with the press of a button and a pull. This allows for easy cleaning. The whole head is detachable in case you want to use the aluminum pole by itself or with the included crevice tool. The pole itself is also detachable from the motor unit. There's also a row of LED lights along the front edge of the brush unit. These LEDs only come on when they are needed and will illuminate the left half or right half or both, depending on what the light sensor detects. This is a nice feature and helps to conserve the battery power.
The motor unit is the brains and power of the unit. It's a very sleek little machine and looks really cool while also remaining lightweight. The battery gets installed at the bottom of the handle. When it needs charging, you can remove it from the vacuum, or just plug the charger in while the battery is still installed in the handle. This allows you to store the stick vac where there is no power outlet and remove the battery so it can be charged elsewhere. There is a HEPA filter located under a front cover. It's accessible by rotating the collar to the unlock position so that the front cover can be removed. I must admit I had a little trouble with the cover always falling off until I realized that the locking collar was there. After I learned that tip, I had no trouble. Beneath the HEPA filter location is the dust cup assembly. There's also a filter in the dust cup which will need occasional cleaning and can be removed by opening the dust cup and depressing the two side buttons to pull the assembly out. The buttons and locks are very well integrated into the design so you may have to look close to find them. To open the dust cup, there's one button to depress which pops open the front of the dust cup. The cup itself does not need to be removed to empty it, just hold it over the garbage, hit the button and the hinged portion of the dust cup drops down allowing emptying. A note on the dust cup, it's small, it's very small. You basically need to empty it after each use. This is also easier to do if you detach the pole portion.
This is a very compact machine and as such doesn't come with a base to park it in. In fact, you can stand the vac up, remove the motor unit and store it on the cradle located on the pole assembly. This is ideal for closet storage, especially if you are going to remove the battery for charging. It's all pretty self contained (except for the crevice tool, which you'll need to store separately).
So the motor controls are pretty basic. There's a power button and a mode button which lets you select either eco mode, auto mode or boost mode. I found the auto mode to work very well. Amazingly well in fact. In this mode the motor ramps up when needed and goes back to standard power when on open floor. When one or the other edge of the head unit is against the wall or cabinets, the motor automatically ramps up to create more suction at the corner edge. This happens if the head unit is in a corner as well. It saves battery power in the long run and gives a boost of suction when you're vacuuming along baseboards or cabinets. It picked up everything on the floor that I went over the first time. I didn't need to continuously go over a section to make sure it was clean, but I tend to vacuum slowly and let the machine work. This is just how I use my vacuums, so maybe this has some affect on how well the machine works. Regardless, I really liked this vacuum. It is small and the dust cup is also very small, but if you're using it for your hard floors or just in the kitchen areas, it's a really competent stick vac. Where it has more trouble is on carpeting. If you have a condo or an apartment, this is a really compact and capable stick vac with a lot of features. I like the design of the head unit and how the brush bar is able to be removed very easily. The auto mode works very well and you really don't need to worry about changing modes manually unless you want to. Once again, a good design from Shark.

All of the pros
- Extremely lightweight
- Battery lasts long enough to clean my whole apartment
- Works on both hard surface floors and carpet without needing to switch attachments
- POWERFUL SUCTION
- Intelligently adjusts suction power and rotor speed based on surface time and amount of debris
CONS
- Only one extra attachment is included
- Storage solution isn't as elegant as my old Dyson
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this stick vacuum. I use it almost everyday and it hasn't failed me yet in the 6 months I've owned it.

Powerful Stick Vacuum

The Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum is really handy to help keep floors and other surfaces
clean. The handheld vac can easily be removed from the wand and floor head for quick use on
crumbs, etc. Cleaning the primary filters is quick and easy and the HEPA filter keeps fine dust
particles contained.
What’s in the Box:
Main Vacuum (detachable handheld vacuum)
Rechargeable Battery
Wand with Storage Hook
Floor Nozzle
Crevasse Tool
Power Supply
While unboxing the vacuum I noticed a QR code for full instructions on the box flap. So naturally I
grabbed a copy of that to read while giving the battery an initial charge. Assembly was a snap, literally
the pieces snap securely together.
The Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum automatically detects different surfaces (carpet, hard
floor, etc.) and edges. So far, it’s cleaned everything we’ve tried, including tracked in grit, fine dust,
sock lint and spilled spices. We’ve used it on carpets, throw rugs, as well as hardwood and ceramic
tile floors. We’ve also used it as a hand vac to clean up other surfaces.
There are three filters. The first is a fine wire mesh that traps hair and debris, the second is a paper
filter that traps fine dust particles and the third is a HEPA filter that traps pretty much everything else. I
haven’t yet replaced the HEPA filter, but the first and second filters are easy to clean. The wire filter is
easily accessible and cleaning the second level filter so far has been as simple as removing it and
giving it a few gentle taps to remove the fine dust particles. The instructions say this second filter can
be also rinsed and air dried for at least 24 hours. As an allergy sufferer, the HEPA filter is a real
bonus. Do note that this stick vac is not designed to pick up liquids or sharp objects.
The battery run time varies depending on if you use ECO mode. The manufacturer says the battery
will last “up to 40 minutes”. So far this has not been a problem. We use it for quick cleanups not as a
primary vac for the whole house. It recharges quickly and the battery is removable / replaceable.
Plus, the battery charge left is clearly indicated on the handle.
The vacuum is designed to make storage simple. Rather than having a top-heavy stick vacuum that
falls over, this one is designed to allow you to remove the handheld vac and nest it in a holder near
the vacuum floor head. It’ll stand just fine wherever you put it without toppling over.
All in all, I really like this stick vacuum. It is easy to clean and store and it is powerful!

I love this vacuum! It's perfect for my 850 sq ft apartment. The suction is super strong. It's very light weight and doesn't get clogged with my very long hair (My last vacuum broke because of this). The battery life seems to be holding strong. I vacuumed my whole apartment and still have battery left over. I love Shark products and this makes vacuuming super easy.

Purchased this Shark to replace my Dyson cordless which died. This is far superior to the Dyson in my opinion. It is lighter, takes up less room when stored and is way more powerful. I love the dirt detect feature. It made quick work of high traffic areas in the house, especially where my cats track litter. It is a fantastic vacuum. Another great product from Shark.

Lightweight and convenient. I love not having to worry about a cord. This is definitely better for cleaning up smaller areas, as it doesnt ha e a strong enough charge to deep clean a house with a single charge. But its so convenient and easy to use, i find myself using it that way most of the time.

Great purchase. Love the adjust suction. Also my kids can use it because it’s light weight. The debris basket is easy to clean out compared to other hand held vacuums I have used in past. Took off a star because I wish I could store with out taking the top of the vacuum off.

We love this vacuum! It has great suction and the carpet/ hardwood smart detection feature is great. We have hardwood floors throughout but have rugs here and there and it really sucks up all the dog hair we have from our German Sheppard. The only complaint is that when it is on the carpet feature it sucks the battery right up I’ve noticed so we bought an extra battery

Bought this to replace a corded Shark vacuum that lasted 12 years. Was hesitant to spend this much on a vacuum because I tried a different cordless brand that I returned. To get excited about a vacuum seems silly, but this is an absolute game changer. I can vacuum my 1200 sq foot house and still have battery power remaining. The auto setting makes the adjustments needed to speed and suction at the right times. Lightweight, easy to maneuver, and has great suction. Completely worth every penny and would buy this again!

This vacuum is pretty powerful for ur being so lightweight. I live in a a two story household so it is a breeze moving I up and down the stairs. I was suspect of the suction power but to my surprise it’s pretty powerful. The only drawback is that when it is on max suction power the battery runs it pretty quickly. Like less than 40 minutes max. Because that great little vac.

The vacuum is difficult to use, constantly gets clogged; even with the smallest items. Charge does not last long. Difficult to store, falls over, needs to be able to hang or store easily. No way to store the only attachment it came with, could’ve at least had an on board hook .
