As expected, ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ heavily references Gray and the emotions the band went through in the wake of his passing. Beginning on the album opening ‘XIX,’ frontman Corey Taylor references, “I don’t want to get back up, but it might as well be today.” The song itself builds in intensity and like other passages on the disc, the heaviness of the music often matches the depth of the emotion.

Ive always enjoyed slipknot enough to follow them for the last decade. They were different and intriguing and fun to listen to. This album is obviously inspired by the death of bassist Paul Gray. From start to finish this is a gem. At first it was a typical Slipknot release. By the time I had listened to it about 3 or 4 times through I realized what a gem this really is! Buy it. Its incredible and catchy and heavy

This cd I bought is probably on the edge of being as one of the craziest, heaviest I've boughten in awhile. I saw it somewhere else for 16 dollars. I came into Best Buy and found a version that didn't have the extra biographies and odds and ends that they include for the extra money. I just want the music. I'm to old to be a groupie (so I'm told) HE HE! GOOD prices

Thought with new band members and a different creative source, things might change but they didn't. Still amazing sound with great lyrics. I cannot wait to see them live and hope they play a few new songs. The Garden show was the best concert I ever seen. If you can see them you will be sorry if you don't.

I absolutely love this album! This one and "All Hope is Gone" are my favorite albums by Slipknot. The case was a little cracked in the front, but it being the last one on the shelf... kind of expected. lol!
Anyways, love it, buy it, play it over and over again. XD

I enjoy all types of music genres, but I have to be very careful with metal. I've always been a fan of Slipknot though, so when they put out this new album it was a must for me. If you've enjoyed any past Slipknot albums then this is a must pick up for you too.

I've been an Slipknot's fan since the beginning, I do really love all their albums (still the first one and "Iowa" are the best yet), including this last one, but it seems like they are less brutal now, still one of the best live acts. Good album with a few great tracks, I like it...4.5 Stars...!

I highly recommend Slipknot's latest CD. "The Devil In I" is a great song and video. I really like the entire CD. If you are a fan of Slipknot, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead or any of the bands in that style or from that era, you are going to enjoy this CD.

After losing a few members, and coming off a rather long hiatus, it would not have been surprising if this had been a weaker effort by the band. That however, is not the case. The Knot came back strong and released one of their best albums to date.

On this album the music really comes together with the feelings behind it. Excellently structured songs and drums that at times amaze. If you like the slipknot songs that are more traditional you will love this cd

One of the best albums if not the best from them since their debut album. Heavy and awesome lyrics. You can really feel the force of the emotion drive the music. I gotta say it's become one of my favorite albums.

Following the loss of bass guitarist Paul Gray (for which the album is named) the band has returned triumphantly. With 5 singles on this album it is packed with exquisite sounds

The more I listen to this album the more I'm hooked. It's already becoming a classic. Prefect mixture of screaming and melodies. If you're a metal fan this album is a must-have for sure.

Meant to write this a while back. But this new album by Slipknot is great as it mixes all the different sounds they are known for. Great album from beginning to end.

Best Slipknot Album Ever

I have been a Slipknot fan for a long time, hearing every album, unreleased tracks, live concerts, etc. This album from start to finish is a complete masterpiece. Tracks like"Sarcastrophe", "AOV", Skeptic", and "Custer" offer heavy hitting classic Slipknot fans that were die-hard from the early days. Songs like "The Devil In I", "Nomadic", and "The One That Kills The Least" are the more melodic songs, yet stick pack a good punch. The guitars and bass work is amazing, catchy and never dull. The drum and percussion are adapted well to all the moods and settings. The vocals may not be the most impressive of Slipknot's or Corey Taylor's career, but the work flawlessly and nothing in the lyrics or vocal choices are anything less of amazing. Definitely a must buy for any Slipknot fan, and other metal, hard-rock listeners. Perhaps not the best album for those being introduce to the band, but it's certainly worth the listen and the purchase.
