One of the best albums that I have heard in the last 5 years.

I didn't even realize how long Queens of the Stone Age had done without a new album until this new one came out. 2007: Era Vulgaris, 2013: ...Like Clockwork (at least we had Them Crooked Vultures in the middle). A lot of people have said this album seems like a departure for them, but I don't feel that way. It reminds me of Lullabies to Paralyze in a lot of ways, with even some Peace, Love and Death Metal thrown in. I can easily see myself listening to this album as much as I did Era Vulgaris, which would distract me from noticing if QOTSA once again goes 6 years without releasing an album. I hope that doesn't happen though.

QOTSA has put out some great albums in the past but has rarely shown a lot of change in their style for each album. Like Clockwork... has shown a big change in style and experimentation. Some aspects of QOTSA's signature sound are lost in this album but new ones replace them nicely. Great guest appearances without making them obvious, too.

Wow! Finally a release that never leaves the player. Sure, it's not Songs For the Deaf. But that's what makes it great. It displays a sonic maturation that Josh pulls off perfectly. Songs may start on the mellow side, but then take a hard turn as only the Queens can pull off. If you are a QOTSA fan, don't hesitate. Just buy this.

QOTSA's self produced new record since 2007 is definitely a must have for new and veteran QOTSA/Kyuss fans. With featured contributions from old school QOTSA favorites such as Nick Oliveri, Trent Reznor, and Dave Grohl this album showcases the classic QOTSA formula of high volume riffs and lyrics that are playfully demented and sarcastically earnest.

If you don't own this album yet, then I suggest you buy it. The music on all the tracks are amazing.. I went to see them live in concert and they rock, check them out if you can..

Great album. You can never go wrong with any of the queens of the stoneage cds. One of the best rock bands of this generation.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme says that the title for their latest album sarcastically refers to the multiple problems the band faced during its writing and production - that everything went "...like clockwork." They'll have to forgive listeners if they're less than sympathetic, because the result of that strife is a fantastically tight album that puts QOTSA back atop the modern rock world. After 2005's dense, droning (and largely forgettable) "Era Vulgaris," - dubbed by Homme as the pinnacle of their "robot rock" sound - many wondered if the band had run dry of ideas. "...Like Clockwork" bridges to that era with the fuzzed-up opener "Keep Your Eyes Peeled" but then takes off in a completely different direction toward catchy hooks and twisting chords. While some production elements retain the exacting, synthetic tricks of the past, the material is free to roam in new and interesting directions - an important distinction from "Era Vulgaris." The result bears undeniable marks of QOTSA (6/8 time, slide steel guitars, wah-wah pedal, Homme's alternating falsetto vocals) but turns to classic rock for inspiration throughout. "I Sat by the Ocean" interplays guitar tracks like Heart, "If I had a Tail" channels the Stones like a new-millenium "Gimme Shelter," and "Kalopsia" (featuring guest vocals by Trent Reznor) sounds like vintage Bowie on steroids. The entire album reflects QOTSA's trademark bluesy, horror-movie-meets-circus atmosphere, owing a lot to The Beatles' "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." The track "The Vampyre of Time and Memory" modernizes these influences reminiscing Radiohead's "Exit Music (for a Film)." Overall, the result is by turns glam, moody, slinky, menacing, pounding, majestic - and pure rock throughout. You'll stomp your foot and grind your hips to each of the ten tracks. Lyrically, Homme was clearly (and understandably) guided by a near-death experience and lengthy convalescence after routine surgery and the subsequent creative block that he suffered afterward. Lines like "If life is but a dream, wake me up" and "Shock me awake / Tear me apart / Pinned like a note in a hospital gown / Prison of sleep" lay bare his personal struggles. Shame on Matador for the lackluster packaging for "...Like Clockwork." The art is supplied by Liverpool graphic artist Boneface, but there's scant little of it with the album itself. Several online promotional clips teasing the album set up a conceptual relationship between animated versions of Boneface's nightmarish vision and the music itself, but that promise is left unfulfilled with this package - basically a one-sheet leaflet with no additional art, lyrics or other content.

Another qotsa album that takes it to the next iteration. So many favorites on this, got a battle between this and Hesitation Marks for most played.
