Great actors, Helen Mirren, Roy Schrieder, John Lithgow as young talent plus the Arthur C. Clarke novels as background give this movie significance. If you're a halfway serious fan of sci-fi, see it.

2010 is an awesome movie. It's a followup to 2001 A Space Odyssey and a much needed explanation. While I'm not sure how well the explanation worked, this movie with great scenes in Blu-ray was excellent. If you liked 2001, or like sci-fi, you will more than likely like this movie.

I really like this movie. Mostly because my dad took me to see it at the theatre and also because I relate well to the lead character. Well done and it doesn't get enough credit as a sequel.

The movie is a fair expansion of the great ""2001 A Space Odyssey". It provides some back story why Hal went on its murder spree concluding with its decision at film's end. The script is somewhat lame, dated, stilted and overarched by Cold War fears. The sets and filmography are nowhere near the level of Kubrick's 2001. Ultimately, Hal's charector expresses more emotion than the wooden performances of the actors. The Blu-Ray transfer is excellent. I would recommend this to a friend if it could be purchased at deep discount.

If you haven't seen "2001 A Space Odyssey" you can still like this movie, but I recommend you do see it first. While not nearly as good a movie as 2001, it's still pretty good.

2010 is a worthy sequel to Kubrick’s original masterpiece. It’s a well crafted sci-fi thriller rooted in the Cold War paranoia that makes films from the 1980s so endearing.

Many don't know this, but this is a sequel to a Space Odyssey. While it does not match up to the original, it is a great sci-fi film and is on many underrated film lists.

I great Sci-Fi film that is sorta a sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey from 1968. I originally saw this on VHS but I highly recommend this on Blu-ray. Great clean up job on the print from this 1984 movie.

Hard to top 2001. It's Kubrick after all. The effects aren't as good and we all know there's NO sound in outer space. I hate that they had to explain away HAL's misbehavin' in the first film, but this is what Arthur C. Clarke wrote so... it's a decent enough film on it's own - it's just hard NOT to compare it to the first. Good cast. Some of the synthesizer sounds are SO dated and will evoke a giggle or two. If you're a hard core sci-fi buff you'll probably enjoy as long as you're not expecting a masterpiece.

I was really impressed with the transfer, however, if you have 4k, go for that. It's actually better. But this one is great too.

Good follow up to the original 2001 answered a lot of left open questions from the original.

Starts out slowly but builds to a surprise and thought provoking ending. Thought the first version was better but this follow-on is worthy.

This movie answers many questions left unanswered by the original movie. The storyline is engaging and thought provoking and being a sci-fi fan found the idea of a computer becoming self aware fascinating.

I was browsing through the Blu-Ray bins and saw this movie which has always been one of my favorite 80s sci-fi movies. I was grateful to see the film upscaled to Blu-Ray quality. Great movie and great buy!

I really wish this was in 4K, not sure why they made 2001 in 4K, but not this one. Strange

I don't think you can say you are a 2001 aficionado and not at least give this one a shot. It's not Kubrick, but it tries to add flesh to a largely abstract story. Well worth the sale price paid.

Always a great movie to watch and won't put you to sleep like 2001 will! One of Roy Schneider great movies!

The ominous message that caps this movie clearly defines mankind's role in the universe. Watch 2001 first, then 2010.

It is so great to see these movies I remember watching with my dad as a kid in HD now. Like seeing them for the first time.
