This is possible the greatest historical fiction/nonfiction/retelling ever! The battle of Thermopylae is regarded as the greatest battle in history even if it ended in the failure of the Spartans. The Spartans were also regarded as the greatest soldiers the world has ever known even though they lost. The movie is incredibly beautiful and its story telling is mind blowing. Leonidas's 300 warriors and 2800 from other parts for Greece held off the "1000 armies of the Persian Empire!!" which totaled over 2 million men strong. The movie was full of coin-able phrases that we have all probably heard a million times by now. It also had many slow motion sequences and special effects at every turn. Overall the movie is a culmination of all that is awesome in Hollywood and History.

Early trailers for this movie made it out to be entirely about the action. While it is filled with intense and well-shot action scenes, there is so much more to the movie. With an underlying theme of honor, 300 earns a spot among the great "guy movies" of all time. It is not historically accurate. However, unlike "Gladiator," it does not pretend to be the truth. It is based off the graphic novel which emphasises key points in history and adds an element of fantasy to them. Wonderfully acted and shot, 300 is a movie to watch over and over again.

After seeing the movie troy and loving it i wasnt thinking this movie would be as good but it was a little to futuristic for my taste to represent the 300 but the story line was great and the fighting scenes are great the special effects are amazing and i think that is what makes this movie more appealing to younger kids any way i already seen the movie 3 times and will watch it again one day soon!

I had the privilege of viewing this marvelous film on Imax, then rented the DVD. I was just as entertained. This movie is a great study if you're a film major or wish to enter the entertainment industry. The special effects are top tier and the ensemble cast hits the ball out of the park!! If you loved Gerard Butler as the phantom in "Phantom of the Opera," you'll certainly fall in love with him as King Leonidas! He shows how REAL MEN are supposed to treat their women. Bravo!

This movie was incredibly done. There were scenes that were just like the book. Many scenes had the spirit of the original illustration while greatly utilizing the abilities that a film has. Some scenes were added in, that weren't in the original book (it was kind of short). All the added scenes were appropriate and well done. Definitely worth a watch! Note: Not for the faint-hearted. This is a movie about a bloody battle, and there is some gore in it.

For those who love Epic battles.... The graphic novel lovers...... Or just plain HOT men... (yes, female here).... This movie had a storyline anyone would appreciate with long battles, love and friendship... Am I reading the Iliad?? Along those lines.... The geek in me loved having a graphic novel turned into a movie that expands peoples imaginations.... Great acting, awesome cinematography...anyone would like some aspect of this movie!!!!

This movie was great. The story line, although not historically correct, was awesome. Some of the phrases that are said in this movie stand out so that everyone who has seen it can know exactly what movie you are talking about when you say them. This is definately a must-see in my book. Because of the nudity and the tremendous amount of bloodshed, I wouldn't let minors see it, because this movie will start a lot of questions!! lol

Wow.. what stunning movie. The story really makes you pay attention, and the visuals are OUTSTANDING. There is slow motion for much of the fight scenes, which is good, because you don't want to miss any of this action. Most of it was filmed in blue screen, so that they could add stylized creatures, and enhance the visuals to the nth degree. I would recommend this film for the action/adventure watching people.

The only bad thing about this movie, was that I didn't get a chance to see it on the big screen. If you thought Gladiator was a great movie, all I can say is you haven't seen anything yet! What makes DVD's so great is that they include commentary, background into the making of the movie, and shows you how the film the made. It was not only enteraining, visually and emotionally, but it was educational as well.

when I walked in to the movie theater to see 300, i did not know what to expect. from the previews i had seen it looked like just another stupid, poorly made movie. but when i watched the movie in the theater I was blown away! although i enjoy movies that are more factual than not, i truly loved this movie. it kept me on the edge of my seat, and although the cast was a bunch of unknowns, they did a great job. that is why i strongly recommend this film to anyone who doesn't mind seeing some guy's head get choped off.

The reason I liked this movie was because it was about a community that didn't want to give up their freedom to a so called god. I admired their courage and strong character traits. This was such a great movie. The characters were very interesting; I loved every part of this movie. This is Sparta! That is my favorite line; the ending is breath taking. It's such a beautiful movie.

If you like hardcore action, with heads flying off shoulders, you will like this movie. It's really action-packed. It's a great story-line about the Spartans. When I saw it, there was never a moment, when I was bored. Something that I didn't like was the nudity in the movie. I didn't think it was needed. But other than that, this movie was amazingly done and deserves all 5 stars.

The guys will love this film because of the constant action, the ladies will love it because the blood gore isn't over the top (not to mention all of those muscles), and film-lovers will love it for the cinematography & story line. You'll never fell like you've been sitting for the 2 hours it takes to finish the film because you'll be on the edge of your seat the entire time!

Besure you also watch the History Channels DVD about the historical look at this battle and how important it was in our current life. This move with all of the special effects is great to watch in HD and surround sound. If you get a chance to watch this in the theater make sure you go, the small screen while pretty good is nothing like watching it in the theater.

I have owned this movie since its release and am surprised at how much I still watch the movie. It is one of my favorite movies because of how intense the battle scenes are. The battle sequences are amazing in this movie and Gerard Butler plays a great King Leonidas and the movie is filled with action from beginning to end. I will continue to watch this movie for years to come and have yet to find an ancient war movie that sparks my interest like this one

Very exciting. "Satisfaction Guaranteed" should be printed on the case. I am unaware of anybody who dislikes 300. Definitely worth every penny. Old men feel invigorated, young men feel inspired and all the ladies get their eye candy. But do not worry fellas, we get ours in the beautiful queen. How can I best tell you? BUY 300!!! I think that works

This movie is incredible! It has everything you would want in a film, an fascinating plot, lots of exciting action, hunky characters and remarkable picture quality. It makes you want to be a Spartan, well I know it sure made me want to be a Spartan! This movie kicks butt and is one of the best movies out there right now. It is a must-see movie!!

If you liked the movies "Braveheart" and "Gladiator", then you are going to like this movie. It is one testosterone fuel driven ride that catches you from the beginning and never lets go. I loved this movie so much that I purchased it for myself. And if you were to only purchase one film this year, I would highly recommend that this be the one.

For the longest I wouldn't watch this movie because I felt that the visual style used in this movie was a knock off of the God of War video game visual style (and still do), but was finally talked into watching it and all I could say was, "Wow!" This movie was ripe with action and a lot of heart making for a really nice surprise.

This was such an amazing, I went to go see this in opening night with a couple friends and it left me wanting more and more. The Special Edition isnt all that great but this is about the movie not the features. If u like bloody, gory movies then this is it.
