Pros: Great picture Thin Easy to use main menu Enhanced security features for purchasing apps Thin Amazing price Cons: Takes a while to set up your existing accounts and wifi such as Netflix, Hulu, ect The remote is small it's very easy to use The volume control is off, YouTube is way louder than Netflix Overall it's a good TV for the price. The picture is good and it does the job it's a smart tv what's there not to love! It also gets all of the standard digital channels as well without having to add one of those box things.

we have had the TV for over a year and have had no problems with it. Sometimes on the smart TV part we have to spend a little time to find what we are looking for but that is probably due to our being two senior citizens and not the TV. Picture Quality remains excellent and unchanged even after this amount of time.

    Really nice for the money

Was looking for a TV for my home office that will get light use. No cable outlet or OTA so wanted a Roku TV to minimize the remotes. Look for $249 you really can't complain. It has a reasonable decent picture. I love Roku and having it built in is like saving $50. This TV is not going to impress videophiles as it has a somewhat washed out contrast, but colors are not bad and the brightness is acceptable. The power on time is SLOW! I guess the Roku portion initializes with ever power on so be prepared to wait. The Menu is a bit laggy, but once you are viewing something it is great. The back-light dimming is obvious depending on how much black the background has, but again for the price point it is fine. This TV was my second choice as the branch I wanted do not come in a 39-40 only a 43, and this was already pushing the size of what would look reasonable on the wall. And as I said for the price this is perfect, you will get what you pay for, but it will work fine. Great for a kids room or anyplace non-critical viewing will occur.

Got a good deal on this, so didn't expect too much & besides it was only going into a bedroom. Well, it is very good & would be fine in a living/family room, as well! Set-up was Easy - daughter zipped right thru it as good as any professional installer could have done! Color is excellent, volume pretty good, sleek style. One of the cool things I've never seen before, you hit the "Microphone" button & SAY what movie/TV Show, or whatever you are looking for & the TV will show the results of the search. 2 cons: 1. the start screen is SLOW to come on. Once I hit the power button, it takes 5-7 seconds for the blue screen to come on, then a few more seconds as it is "looking for cable box". 2. Sometimes, upon starting up, I can hear the audio, but the screen is black. Haven't tried to rectify yet, but if I just hit the OK round button (in the middle of the up,down, left & right buttons). One more con that almost ALL TV manufacturers are using: May be a possible issue you (an issue for me) - The legs, although stable, are far apart. I love this 32" TV so much that I wanted to buy one for the Kitchen, but I can only use it on top of a 19" shelf (can’t put on wall) & the legs are further apart than that. If it was a pedestal base, that wouldn't be an issue. In my family room, I have a 65" inch with a 12-inch pedestal base - so I know it can be done, or at least an option. Otherwise I'll need to buy a generic base for $20-150! I don't even want to spend the $20! In the bedroom I have the TV on an Armoire, so the legs aren’t an issue.

    Better than a smart TV

We wanted a smart tv for our bedroom, we found this roku tv on sale and actually quite cheap! I was hesitant since I had never heard of a roku tv and also the price was so low. We decoded to go ahead and purchase, I am so glad that we did! This TV is amazing the remote is small and has all the features needed. With recently cutting our cable company, this TV has made life easy. It still allows to connect to a DVD player, game system, even cable or antenna if you wanted. Well worth the money!

We got this tv a couple of years ago and it is still running strong. Aside from dropping the WiFi connection a few times (and that could have been the WiFi connection itself at our old place) we have had no issues whatsoever. Video and audio quality are decent ( for a sub $300 tv), size works with our apartment well.

    Awesome TV

I never had a Roku TV, but from now on, I will always buy an Insignia Roku TV. - - - - - - 1st this is dual band WiFi TV, meaning it can access data via 2.4GHz or 5GHz, I have a dual band WiFi router so I took advantage of using the 5GHz band from the TV, because all my other WiFi devices (Ex. cellphones, laptops, etc. use the other 2.4GHz band) - - - - - - 2nd whatever bad review you read, is total BS, I can only think that those people cannot read the manual or even understand it - so in their eyes the TV might not work for them, but only because they can't follow directions. - - - - - - 3rd I have read some reviews where they didn't like that after turning on the TV, it would always go to the "Home" screen and they they would have to choose what device to go to (Ex. antenna, or cable tv or Apps, etc.) - FYI: there is a setting to where you can choose where you would always want to go to after turning on the TV, like always going to your cable TV box first and if you want to access anything else you press the "Home" to access Apps, Antenna TV, or anything else that's connected to the HDMI port. - - - - - - 4th BUY THIS TV and get a powered antenna and you might not want to pay for cable TV again - just pay for internet and you can stream from any App you install, on the air antenna I get 61 channels just through Digital Air Broadcasts through the powered antenna I bought ;)

I am very glad I decided to buy this product

When I bought this TV, I was wondering if I should buy a TV or not, and if it would be better to buy a well known brand TV or this one. Now I can say I made a good purchase, the TV works pretty well, and configuring it is pretty easy. Additionally, ROKU offers a good amount of interesting channels to install. I cannot wait to install the new Xfinity channel they are supposed to offer by the end of the year, which will improve the image quality of my cable TV!

I love this TV, now that I got everything working!

I really love this TV now that I got the wifi working, the problem was with my very OLD router and not the TV itself. I couldn't get it to connect to wifi even after trying all kinds of stuff online and calling tech support (who by the way suggested I return the TV and get a different one!). After almost a month of trying different things, I finally decided my router probably couldn't keep up with all the newer electronics (it was installed about 11years ago), so I went back to Best Buy and talked to a very helpful sales associate who explained that it was very likely that my old router was causing the issues. So once I figured out how to get that set up and running, my Roku/TV is AWESOME and I just LOVE it!!!!! Thank-you again Best Buy and all your wonderful associates for all the help getting me set up and running the way it should!

    Terrific TV for the price

    |
    Posted .

I purchased this TV when it was on sale and I found it even cheaper by purchasing it open box condition. It was considered gold standard or whatever is the "highest level of quality" for being open box. When I received it I was surprised to find that the TV itself was brand new, yes the box had additional tape on it but I could tell the TV was never used or touched because all the factory stickers were still on it. Lightweight, great apps, good sound quality, plenty of inputs for our needs; I couldn't be happier. I especially enjoy how this TV has screen savers and you can change the backgrounds on the home menu. Just additional little touches that stand out from other sets around this price range. One thing I can say that is stellar about this TV is I have two Sony TVs, both top of the line or were at the time (first one was $1000, second $1500) and I have major problems with Netflix constantly crashing and the TVs themselves not staying connected to WiFi. The insignia always stays connected and I have never had a crash. It is also farthest from the router, so go figure... Really disappointed in the Sonys performance in this department, and very impressed with the insignia. I recommend!

This tv has been great. The built in ROKU is convenient because you dont need an extra component, I just wish the remote had more, like numbers, so when you stream your cable provider you can find channels faster than scrolling.

I like the tv and the price!

    Posted .

I bought this 39" Roku Smart Tv as a Christmas present for my hubby. I ordered it online and had it shipped to our home. It arrived in just a few days and without any issues or damage. Best Buy had sent me links to information that was helpful with the set up process. I unpacked it and set it up to make sure I would have all the necessary "hookups" for the DVR, DVD, etc. I ended up having to purchase an HDMI cable for the DVR because the standard AV 3 color coded thing (yeah, thing) wouldn't work for some reason. I was able to set it up and have it fully functioning in very little time. I, of course, had to repeat this process on Christmas Day but it went very smoothly. I really do like the whole concept of a tv with roku built in. The Home Screen is squares with pictures and you just point and click to select what you want to watch; I don't think it could be any easier. My husband IS NOT tech savvy, and that's an understatement, yet he has no problem using the tv and enjoying it. My reasons for giving this 4 stars instead of 5: 1 The picture quality coming through the DVR is just the weensiest bit blurry for some reason. I didn't expect that since I bought the HDMI cable for connecting. It may have more to do with the DVR than the tv though. 2. When selecting from the home screen (i.e. pandora, netflix, etc.) it is a bit slow to load and get going; however, once loaded there is no lag in viewing...I do have very high speed internet 3. The remote does not have a headphone jack...Very disappointing, very : (...that said, our Dish remote does function with this TV without incident. Last night my son hooked up a game console and streamed online gaming and the picture and sound were fantastic! He cranked the volume up to 24 and I was certain the neighbors were going to think they should call the police to come rescue us...my son was loving it. In fact, the sound is always excellent on this thing. My husband is legally deaf and wears hearing aids and he never has the volume above 10 which is just astounding. Very clear and crisp. I am satisfied that this was a good quality purchase and for a reasonable price.

    Blown away for the price

    |
    Posted .

For the Price I got this for I was blown away with this TV. Pros: Roku software and hardware inside is very fast. Wireless actually works well and I haven't had any issues with it for streaming (which is all I do) after using it for months. Remote is really easy to use and simplistic so other people can't screw up your TV and settings. Very few settings to screw up For the price the colors are amazing. Extremely few configuration options. I really like this for a TV in this price range. I would put this in cons if the TV was 2-5 times as expensive or if all the settings looked bad but they don't. Also its nice to have simplicity as mentioned above. Cons Remote takes a few days to get used to and you will thing its stupid having the volume on the side but it grows on you quickly and now I love it so it isn't really a con in my opinion. Colors are a bit washed out but not too bad at all. Set it on the "darkest" setting and you will get much better colors and can really enjoy them. In this price range most TVs look awful and these are good colors for this price.

    Solid 1080p Smart TV

    |
    Posted .

At 39", this size comes in just big enough for a living room size, but doesn't warrant the 50+" price hike. As a Smart TV, the Roku software is one of the long standing options, and still holds up to the standard providing Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Video along with many other smaller video services. Using the built-in DTV tuner is easy with up and down controlling the channels and the dedicated volume buttons on the side. However that's pretty much it besides the favorites and channel list (accessible by pressing the left button.) Legacy devices using an RF modulator can still connect via an option during initial setup and channel scan. HDTV broadcasts are received at both 720p and 1080p, selected at highest resolution, with Dolby Digital - including surround audio - supported and output through either the stereo speakers or digital output (TOSlink or HDMI-ARC.) Noticeably absent is a Live TV Guide, as well as a Signal Meter and DVR Functionality (with Live TV Pause useful in certain situations but not many.) That said, I do recommend buying or finding a 16GB USB Drive to enable the pause functionality. With the display reaching a Full HD resolution of 1080p (1920x1080) at a real 60Hz and 3 HDMI inputs, leaving consoles and physical media players plugged in is a convenient possibility. Plugging in with HDMI gives a one cable solution for HTPCs, Steam PCs, and other power computers. With the HDMI inputs, ARC and CEC are supported. Image quality is pretty good, with adjustments available throughout the Roku Channels as well as Live TV. The presets are not perfect, but a custom preset is configurable. Viewing angles are great, as advertised, but glare is present although mitigated on the matte finish of the screen. Overall a solid TV choice for the sale price or if interested in the Roku ecosystem looking to replace an aging pre-HD TV

Great Buy! First time purchasing a “non-so-called brand”; usually I purchase Sony, Samsung, etc. However, I decided to take a chance when our office TV broke. WOW is all I can say, excellent picture quality, sound is great (however, depending on where you’re placing the TV, you might want to consider adding a soundbar if you’re looking for a little more “home theater sound”…mine is in the home office, so it’s fine). Equally important, it was the easiest setup ever. My previous Samsung was a smart TV, however, didn’t quite work the same way. This Insignia Smart TV did exactly what it was supposed to do, and “all” the menu icons worked properly. This was definitely a fantastic decision, and 100% recommend this item!
