Bought this for my son for Christmas he loved it. I would highly recommend this

This model has been discontinued by 3DR, and their customer support is terrible. They have stopped making them, and selling off remaining inventory at a loss. They don't have much motivation to be helpful to you. My looked like everything was great at first. I took off for my first flight, easy enough to fly. A few minutes in the camera feed went out, which is a known issue if you search around online. Of course then i was fllying blind, crashed, and cracked the cheap plastic housing. I tried to just return to Best Buy, but they wouldn't take it because of the damage. So I went to 3dr, they said I had to submit a support ticket, which I did. They said someone would get to me within 48 hours. 3 weeks later, someone finally sent me an email telling me the crash was my fault, but that I could have the drone repaired at my expense. I'm just throwing it in the garbage, because that's what it is, and buying a dji drone, which is what I should have just done in the beginning.

I've waited for some months now to get my hands on a Solo of my own and even had one preordered. Best Buy got it in first and I jumped on the first one I could. Keep in mind this review is before the gimbal release so things will likely get better when it's available since its needed to get those smooth professional looking pictures and videos and also will give you full control of the gopro in flight. This thing is a blast to fly it has plenty of power to spare and can be set to run in a whole list of modes from beginner to acrobatic mode where you can do flips as well as all types of incredibly fast maneuvers and everything in between, with or without gps to keep it steady for you. All the features are listed here already so I won't go through them but rest assured this does things that leaves the competition in the dust. The video now is unstable as any aerial platform is without gimbal so all I can say about that this far is with gopro attached it gives you a great first person view on your android or iOS device and so far this has worked flawlessly for me personally. Smart shots are really cool even without gimbal but will finally produce usable footage as soon as the gimbal is released. So if you are thinking why isn't this footage like the (blank competitor), it will be after purchasing the gimbal which is out in July sometime. The telemetry seems to be pretty accurate thus far and shows up on your tablet and controller both. I've heard some issues need to be sorted out in this just launched platform but mines been fine thus far and you can be sure that all problems will be fixed as 3dr service is second to none from all I've heard. You also have the 30 day money back guarantee and a no flyaway warranty as well which are both unheard of. I would caution folks to be sure to read and watch all you can before flying as its a lot to learn and this quad flys much differently from my other very popular brand copter. It is supposed to be usable for beginners but that said take it very slow and maybe even try a small cheap quad out to get the hang of it before flying this one. While the slow setting is great for the beginner it's apparent that this quad was made to be used above this once you have the feel for it and you'll have better battery life and cooler motors on higher settings. Overall love it only issue is the gimbal delay which should be out soon, then I plan on having a high performance stable camera drone finally. They made this quad to fly hard as well as take good footage not just simply as a flying camera. I gave it 4 stars since there have been some setbacks in the process and the gimbal delay, mines been fine though so really will be a 4.5 to maybe a 5 star quad once the gimbals out if all goes well on that end. (by the way example of 3dr customer service you get a free 150 dollar battery since the gimbal was delayed.)

The 3DR solo will most likely be discontinued, so get one while you can

Well after doing plenty of research this deal was hard to pass up.

Price was good. However loses connection frequently. Also does not go straight up when the "home" button is pressed, so may run into objects. Crashed into a tree once when I used the "home button:
