I had been researching quadcopters for several month leading up to my purchase of the Solo. The solo checked off more of my needs than the others. I have been flying my Solo now for over a week taking it out every day and the more I fly with it the more I am convinced it was the right decision. It has flown flawlessly and easily every time. I have never had any problems with the controller losing connection or with it failing to get a rock solid GPS lock. Today I flew it and the distance I reached was just over 2,200 feet. Thats not as far as some other drones can fly(and I knew that based on my research), but more than far enough for my needs. The smart shots are awesome. Especially love cablecam. Flight time so far has been what I had expected. Depending on wind conditions I am currently getting anywhere from 24-20 minutes in the air. I suspect when the gimble is added that will drop to 22-18 minutes but only time will tell. Overall I and extremely happy with my purchase. While it is so easy to fly the Solo I HIGHLY recommend for first time flyers getting a cheap $30-60 quad to fly first. Something like a Syma XC5. It will give you a feel for flying a quad and when you crash (because you will) its on a cheap quad. After flying a cheap quad for a while flying a Solo will feel all that much more easy (and fun) to fly. Its good preparation should you ever need to fly the Solo manually. The Solo like all GPS quadcopters can lose GPS and should that happen you need to know how to fly manually. Also read the manual. While the Solo is designed to be easy to fly, invest the 15-20 minutes to read the manually thoroughly. Last watch the training videos prepared by Solo. These too are very helpful.

Bought it because I thought it was an awesome deal for the price you pay for the bundle and the feature this drone claimed to have, found out the hard way... just took it out of the box never flew it, found out it is not compatible with new android software or my gopro 3 black edition so I wouldn't be able to control gimbal, there is also no product support and there will be no software updates. Company dropped this drone line for the general consumer and opted to deal with developers only. Returned drone for a full refund. save your money and headaches and buy a DJI.

Excellent Drone for overall pilots, you feel amazed when you open the box and see a series of steps on getting your Solo ready to fly. I only charged the battery, but on the props, took it to a nice open field outside the city, GPS signal took like 2 min to acquire and I was in the air, it's amazing! Finally some use for my GoPro, just attached it to the gimbal and got some kickass video, smarshots make everything simpler and really helps you get the job done, everything is so simple to use such as the cablecam mode, orbit mode, even the selfie and follow me mode (warning: will get you lots of Fb likes, so be ready). Overall amazing product!

Drone pairs and flys well with handset but does NOT stream video. Looked online, tried every trick recommended by both 3DR and others as to way to update firmware, check connections, a different gopro, order of startup, reinstall gimbal, reboot/reboot/reboot.. Nothing, still flying blind which renders this product useless for my purposes. Also managed to find an army of other people online having the exact same well known issues. This is not a finished ready for consumer product.. This is a very buggy unfinished work in progress. That's why it's on sale for $350.

Waited along time to get it. And now is not working. Customer service from Best Buy was very poor and afraid to go back to that store.

Ok, full disclosure, my first Solo was DOA. The controller failed and nothing could connect to talk to each other. Obviously this was bad, ha ha. Took Solo back and exchanged it for another one. The process was simple and easy thanks to Best Buy's and 3DR's policies. Other than costing me some time out of my day it wasn't that big of a deal. My second Solo has performed beautifully so far! All of the automated shots work great and are really the most impressive part of Solo. Anyone I show it to is typically most impressed when I show them those modes. Lots of multirotors can fly and hover with the help of GPS. Solo is the only one that has Smart Shots programmable right from the app or controller (for now anyway). That said, bear in mind that the software is version 1.0. There's some bugs depending on the smartphone or tablet you want to use. It works great on my iPhone 6 Plus on the newest iOS though. If you like having the latest and greatest then you're used to the occasional issue that comes from being first to get a complicated gadget. If you want it to be perfect then you may want to wait a little while until they get more users and feedback to perfect Solo. Footage is good but until the gimbal comes out next month it's not perfect. The gimbal will be icing on the cake as it will make all of the shots extremely smooth. Bottom line, if you want the only Drone in the market (as of now) that comes with a 30 money back guarantee, Smart Shots, and a replacement warranty in case of a mid flight failure that causes a crash, then Solo is your choice.

This is not Best Buy's fault this product was something I've been looking forward to, watched the price drop grabbed it at a great price got it Home, I own a previous model by 3dr. followed every instruction and the product was defective. I was traveling so I didn't want the hassle of having to bring something home that was defective and then having to return it so I returned it quickly to the Best Buy where I picked it up they were super busy but were great at returning it no questions asked.

No live customer service, chat only and they are not helpful. My Solo flipped over on it's own and even flew off by its and crashed into a tree. I've sent in five different trouble tickets since I purchased it 30 days ago, but all I keep getting over the last 30 days is " the engineers will look over your ticket within the next 3 weeks. If you're looking for a descent drone look elsewhere. Customer service (chat) says that they are backed up with complaints and trouble tickets.

I bought this and from day one had problems with electrical interference from the drone to the camera. Couldn't ever get it resolved and took it back and exchanged it for the DJI 4.

This quadcopters #3 motor stopped mid flight three times on the initial flights. No damage to the quad as I kept it under 3 ft high and close to me. However when contacting 3DR for support to either replace or repair the drone I have yet to be contacted and it's been over a week. Several attempts to contact them via email and online chat have proven fruitless so far. Very disappointed in the support for the product.

I had a lot of trouble trying to connect my iPad to the solo control but all in all afterwards love the results for the solo

Its a nice drone, it takes a while to set it up before you can use it. it comes with extra stuff which seems like a REALLY good deal, the problem is, if its your first drone it wobbles too much and it losses signal which makes it hard to control. if you already have one its a good deal for extra parts considering that this drone was really expensive couple of months ago.

At the beggining was great for after using it weeks later it appears "Magnetic Interference" and I cannot use it anymore, no matter the place, this phrase appears everywhere. I will make my formal claim via phone this week.

gps looses signal. was scary. do not buy this. worst product.

This was the second drone I purchased. Picked it up because it was on sale and I couldn't say no to the price. It has connection problems and wouldn't connect to my phone. I thought it was defective so I exchanged it for a different one. That was also had problems it wasn't worth all the hassle so I returned it for a refund. Save your time

I flew a couple of really cheap (sub 50$ quadcopters) prior to flying this one. I then went ahead and did my research and found that this was the hot new bleeding edge tech of quadcopters coming out. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. In approx a month the gimble will be out that will allow for the smoothest aerial photography yet!. Get used to flying.. pick up the gimble in a month.. and be set for many years. This product is future proof and will not be easily replaced. 3dr customer support from what i've read from others is hands down the best to deal with.

I purchased this a couple weeks ago and was able to get the gimbal a week later. Over all the drone has performed as I expected, very stable and smooth flights and the gimbal has performed well as well. But it seems that I am one of the few who has gooten a good bird and gimbal. I will wait before I recommend this drone to others for 3DR to work out a few more kinks.

The solo is amazing, stable in winds and High tech. Easy to fly for beginners and great for experienced pilots, you can mount your gopro to it and get amazing video and photos.

It is a very good drone. not for people that dont have good hand eye coordination. Pretty easy to fly, but i have had some issues with finding GPS signal which wont let you fly unless manual mode is set. that disables some of the safety features. Also where is the gimbal?! No camera features without it.

This is my second drone. Very easy to fly will need an update before your first flight, make sure your phone drone and controller are all close by each other so it gets the update it's all wireless not cables plug into computer. Once your update has completed it's ready to fly and it's awesome! Love the auto flights. Now please ship me the gimbal because without it the videos are just not that useable. Highly recommend, this is as good and once the gimbal is on it will be better than my DJI Phantom 2+. Happy Flying....
