At $299 with gimbal extra battery and props, you can't beat it. It flies great. Range not so great unless you upgrade antennas on remote, then perfect. It does not have sensors or lidar are like the newest DJI but it's only $299! I have a Phantom 3 basic and this kicks its butt. I paid $999 for the Phantom 3, with all the items I bought for the 3DR Solo (2 extra batteries (4 total at $39 each, extra gimbal at Best Buy for $31, and a backpack specially for the Solo for $89). This is the drone I take with me now. Haven't flown the Phantom since. The base station software is great and so many preset shots that you can automate the entire mission.

Been wanting a drone for awhile. This has been awesome purchase. Just make sure you get the gimbel with it. It's a fun way to get some awesome videos

Flies great. Easy to set up. Looks great. A lot of available information available on the web to answer questions I had. Love that is uses my go pro. Looking forward to some of the new products coming out for it.

This is amazing tech at an incredible price point for what you get. I was impatient for the gimbal, but once it arrived it made this tool on par (or better given its simplicity) than units 2x or 3x the price.

Really good drone! A lot of great features! Thought it would be difficult to fly and thought I would be afraid to really give it a go, but really easy and fun! Taken a lot of great videos with it now.

With the included GoPro gimbal and a GoPro 3 Black or 4 black, you can record some of the best video and take some of the most beautiful photos in the drone world. The video is smooth. The craft flies study and sure. The controller built in telemetry screen is great but it really shines when you add your own phone or tablet to the mix. The Solo app works on iPhones and androids. The Solo has all of the smart shots and more. In fact, 3DR pioneered the consumer drone smart shots. At 299 what're you waiting for, buy it.

Was hesitant to purchase at first but pulled the trigger.im sure glad i did.this quad is so easy to fly.it practically flies itself.Best Buy had this thing cheaper than any where else with free gimball.Quad is being used with gopro 3+ black and takes remarkable good video very stable.not only is this thing a video platform but can reach some pretty fast speeds for being as heavy.All in All great purchase.

Quality of drone is exceptional. I have to admit i am a little nervous with 3dr no longer making this product so hope long term their will not be problems. However, for this price i couldnt help but buy. For price this combination of extra battery gimbal and blades you cannot beat that for 300. Flys well and is well built. Cant wait to use for video capture

I bought this drone for black Friday at a great price. When taking out the drone I noticed it is already packed in a reusable carrying case. It is a simple but is a perfect case to protect the drone. The instructions are easy and to the point. Now time for flying. After powering up the drone and linking it with the controller which only took about 1 or 2 minutes, the drone was ready to fly. I just set it down and pushed the fly button and off it went. It was very steady. I was able to allow it to hover in place while looking at the controller so I can familiarize myself with the buttons and what all it could do. Right out of the box I was able to fly this drone exactly as advertised with little effort. It was amazing how easy it was to fly. This is the perfect drone for a beginner who wants to get the most of their investment, also great for the experienced person who wants some serious camera shots. Customer service. I actually had to contact customer service because I couldn’t get the Gopro to project on my phone. The lady on the chat was very helpful. I was able to get in contact with someone in minutes. We spent about 20 min troubleshooting the problem. Turns out I forgot to plug in one of the cord….opps. But she was great the whole time and waited on the chat for me to do what was needed to find the problem. Overall, It is a great product backed with great service. I feel like a kid again flying this drone.

This is a super good drone and the manufacturer stands behind it's product no matter what. I had a question about the GoPro camera and they didn't know the answer and took the time to research the correct answer and although it took three days I recieved a email telling me they did not forget about me and was getting the info for me which I thought was great. and if your impatient with that kind of service than you won't be happy with any of the one's made in China at all. Although 3DR is not going to be selling the Solo drone it is a "Smart" drone and has features that were copied by everyone and it will astonish you with it's performance and the price is right so buy two and enjoy. I have and am enjoying .

I read all sorts of amazing reviews and feedback about 3DR's Solo Smart Drone before I purchased it, and I was still blown away by how great it is! They have great packaging so you can get the drone out and assembled in less than 5 minutes. And it's ridiculously easy to fly, especially with all of the "Smart Shot" options that are preprogrammed. Definitely am happy with my purchase.

I would of give it a 5 star but loading the updates could probably be a little difficult for a beginner. Also for a beginner. the pixhawk along with the solo apps and mission planner can be a little confusing. But it don't take too long to figure out. I had no problem, but I consider myself an advanced pilot. I was happy to not have any problems with this solo. All the update's loaded with no problems. It was very easy to fly. The antennas could be a lot better, but more than enough for a beginner. But new antennas with a greater range are already showing up in the market. Down the road, with all the other additions that are being developed for the solo, (including the new gimbal for the go pro)will make it a great quad copter for filming

I really like the 3DR Solo. If you are in the market for an aerial photography drone, you know the competition in this price range is with the DJI Phantom 3. I prefer the Solo because, A it looks cooler, and B it is easier to use. The DJI has a longer range, but with a range extender on the Solo, you can match distance. Finally, at the time of this review, the gimbal is not available for the Solo. When that comes, then it will be super awesome. Love the Drone and how easy it is to fly, it takes great pics and videos with the go pro. Follow me work pretty darn well.

This is a 5 star product at this point, if the gimbal was available. Without the gimbal it is pretty useless (other than a great toy for flying around). Initially it had some bugs that were rectified through a software update, and current indication is that a future update will address the remaining hickups. It flys great. DJI is catching up though, but if you want upgradability and potentially a way to hack and expand your drone, this is likely the best you can buy at this point.

I've had Several drones, all different manufacturers and all have lost control or a wifi signal and the drone ended up flying off. This thing is great even for someone if they have never flown a drone before it has great range, the performance is awesome and the shots you are able to get with the go pro and gimbal are the best out there. This drone definitely gets five stars from me.

This is an awesome flying machine quadcopter. It will vice the novice and professional several options and angles to take video and pictures. Has built in programs. Which make shooting video or pictures a blast. I recommend this to anyone with common sense and who is responsible and not for people planning on interfere with aircraft or emergency crews. Fly safe and fly smart.

I have friends who have crashed their DJI quads, the solo would be tough to crash unless you fly in manual mode near hazards. I've let my 4-year-old fly it (with me right behind him) and it is perfectly stable. even when he dropped the controller one time it stayed in the air and waited for us to pick it back up and resume flying.

My experience is with toy class drones. When this advanced model went on close out sale for less than the price of those toys I thought I would give it a try. Most reviews were good but the company that makes them was getting out of the market. I figured I would give it a try and if there were issues Best Buy has a good return policy! So far I am having a lot of fun with it. There are reports of various issues with some Solos but I guess I was one of the lucky majority. The battery life is fairly short. I am only getting about 12-15 minutes but fly it pretty hard. That is fine for me but short of advertised time. I got the free extra props, battery, and power gimbal. The gimbal is supposed to used with a Hero camera, which ido not own. Instead I just strapped my cellphone to the fixed mount. I am getting great, steady video! Lastly I can't really emphasize how advanced this hardware and system is. More like Skywarn than even hobby quality quads.
