Ok so saw the 3DR SOLO display at the store and you are thinking should I get one? Is this the real deal? Well I say ‘Yes’ as long as gotten a smaller quad copter already know how fly. The 3DR SOLO is real deal and a lot of fun and cool shots/video can be had. I had the SOLO for few days now and flown many others quads like Phantom 3 or Inspire 1. I say the beginner mode is easier than Phantom 3 to fly and advanced modes (drift, Sport, & Acro) are much more challenging. ((Warning don't use advanced modes until you comfortable and know what doing and have SOLO up at high altitude)). In the advanced modes I am doing well into 50 MPH. Like the pause button when get in trouble especially in advanced modes. This thing is no joke. Side flip, front flips, ect ect. Smart modes - Cable Cam, Obit, and Follow me all work as designed and are pleasure to use especially for someone who hasn’t flown a quad before and wants get quality video footage. Just to note to get quality footage you need the gimbal which should be out in a month. They are currently giving at extra battery away because gimbal isn’t out so pretty good deal. Normally batteries are $150 and you will want at least 2 if not 3. Can you say time fly’s when you fly?? The setup is easy; you need a current smart phone or better yet tablet to fly it. Download app, do updates from app to controller, then SOLO. Step by Step instructions in SOLO app. No problems. Then I do compass calibration and level calibration, (don’t think suggest this but I do it for hell of it, just be safe) put on the props and your ready fly. ((Dummy alert fully charge SOLO battery and SOLO controller before first flight)) I quickly went into setting and increased the responsive to very quick (rabbit) from slow (turtle). If you are beginner you might leave responsive slow for a while. I also adjusted my height to 400ft from 150ft but I am advanced flyer. There are a few bugs with app crashing on mini iPad 2 but nothing that stops me from flying. Also lost video from GoPro once but close app and came back. But that be expected as SOLO just came out. Also the range of the SOLO is quite bit less than Phantom 3 but I believe people will mod it for increased range. If the app does crash (which done few times on me) then SOLO will hover in place and then I just reload the app. I suggest big open field if never flown one these before. Overall if wanted get drone and wanted something more than Parrot Behop (which also sold BB), I think this good choice. I also like the Phantom 3 but there support isn't as good if have a crash or need get repaired (8 weeks) send LA. You will want the gimbal when coming out because the footage is shaky w/o it.

This Drone very durable and just to have that peace of mind that if any flyaway or crashes that you will have a full replacement from 3DR. The only draw back manual control on GoPro still not posible like ISO and other camera settings.

easy to fly and great fun. Still not a toy but allot of fun. Some skill required or at least some training. All the picture modes are awesome and work great!

I bought this because of its flight shots and GoPro compatibility. I enjoy the fact I can concentrate on the video scene and not worry about flying the drone. The software is easy to use and has good tutorials for the novice pilot.

I wanted a drone where I could change out the camera and that used a gopro. My 2nd Solo. They work great. Study the instructions and they are simple to fly. Depending on GPS signal it can take a minute or two to get a fix but after it does it works great. 3dr is concentrating on their commercial business so Solos are at a deep discount. Well worth it.

The 3DR Solo smart drone is one of the best deals in the Video / Photo market. With a price of 399 including gimbal + extra battery you can't get a better drone (IMHO) However, more should have been done to inform the public that the "consumer segment" of 3D Robotics is "out of business". Though they still honor their warranty, tech support is nonexistent. There is an incredible support system in place due to the dedicated 3DR users. Unfortunately, most consumers are unaware of this. Many of these user groups are comprised of very serious professionals not hobbyists. I fear they will soon loose patience with so many consumers / hobbyists looking for help. Parts are extremely difficult to find and ridiculously overpriced if you do find them. There are still 3rd party products and apps etc... in the making!

Very easy to fly and user friendly...would recommend to anyone and 12 an up can fly with ease

I've had my eye on this drone for a while and when I saw the sale on this I couldn't by pass it! It's so easy to fly. Gimbal works amazing with my gp4. It's so cool my best friend is going to get his this Friday ppl it's a 5star drone I've own others like karma! 3dr for its price u can't go wrong on top of the free things u get.

so far a few months in I have used it professionally. I can say with experience that there are bad batches going around and some glitches to get through I swapped my solo 4 times till now I have a small loose connector which I will fix because the pros of this drone superseded the cons my max range so far in a secluded area is 1.32 miles distance and 1,000 feet altitude before it loses signal and comes back home by itself. check out my youtube video of this test its amazing Fire island smart shots by yadher

I really got a lot of fun with this drone, it's a professional one. After have experience others, this is amazingly stable. Using my iphone for the FVP is pretty easy to fly the drone. Have a very useful return to home. I haven't test yet the advanced options, as the follow me or orbit, but the manual flight is amazing.

Great drone for anyone from beginners to more advanced pilots. This is my first drone ever and it so easy to fly with the gps. You can have it take off and return to home all with a click of a button. The only recommendation I can make is stay away from trees and buildings go up about 100 ft. Can't wait for the gimbal to start shipping !!!

Followed this drone since it was introduced. Found out Best Buy was selling it and went up to "check" it out and found out it was exactly what it said it was and purchased on spot!!!! Amazing amazing Drone. Make sure you have a Go Pro 3+ or Go Pro 4 to use with it though. My pictures and video footage have been amazing with it.

After much review, I was wanting to get a drone but did not want to spend a whole lot of money. The 3DR solo was on sale with extra battery, a gimble, and extra props. Compared to DJI, I thought this was almost as good at 1/3 the price. I did have to purchase a gopro to get video. The DJI comes with a camera. FYI

I bought this drone on a 4hr flash sale and got a crazy good price on it! I am the guy who does hours of research before even adding that item to my cart and I only had to do about 30 mins of research on this drone to know it was the one for me. Great drone for beginners or even experienced fliers.

I love this thing! The Solo works as advertised and does so many things so well. It's also continuously being updated. This process is incredibly painless because it's wireless. My single complaint is that I'd like more flight time.

The Solo is an excellent quadcopter, easy to learn to use and has many features for helping you take good photos and videos. It is eclipsed by the superior DJI Mavic, but at this price it is a real value.

Love this drone, it's so easy to fly and the additional shooting modes offer a lot to both the novice and experienced pilot. keep in mind this is not a drone for folks who want to go out and speed around their neighborhood, get something like a walkera runner for that. This is a drone designed to help you get an aerial perspective to add to your vacation videos, kids sporting events, or just seeing what your area has to offer in the way of scenery. The software included is insanely helpful and will even show you the no fly and restricted flight zones nearby. For me I also like the much more sleek design of this drone than the DJI cow in the sky phantom design. This drone is wider than some of it's competitors so finding a case to fit it in will pose a bit of a challenge (hint check youtube for some awesome DIY solutions). All in all 5/5 from me as this is fun to fly, easy to shoot photos and videos with, and the platform is designed to have add ons built by third parties for it (FLIR I/R camera anyone?)

Lost my first drone due to drift in fast mode. Didn't stayed locked as it should off throttle. No problems with 2nd drone. Wish the gimbal was out by now. Had I known it was going to take this long I would have purchased the phantom and saved a few dollars.

This thing was sold out everywhere. Walked into my local best buy and they had one in stock! This thing flys itself! Very happy with my purchase and I am looking forward to the release of the additional add ons that still have not been released yet. Still learning but Its so easy to use and has beginner speeds to learn on. Read up on forums before you venture out. Always practice in wide open fields with no obstructions and always keep a line of sight!
