    Geek squad fixed my laptop

    A few weeks ago, my laptop started acting weird—it wouldn’t turn on, and I had no idea what to do. I brought it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, and they were super nice right from the start. They listened to my problem, asked a few questions, and said they’d take a look. After a couple of days, they called me back to explain what was wrong. They said the battery needed to be replaced and that they could fix it quickly. They even explained it in a way that made sense, which was helpful because I don’t know a lot about computers. When I got my laptop back, it worked perfectly, just like new! The whole process was easy, and they were patient and friendly the whole time. The only downside was that it cost a little more than I expected, but it was worth it to have my laptop working again. I’d definitely go back if I needed help.

    Never had a problem with geek-squad. I try to buy all my gaming headsets and electronics from best buy specifically because of how easy the replacement process is

    Store Manager acknowledged this was worthless

    Here's the short version: according to the store manager of where I'd bought my monitors, this warranty does not cover any physical damage of monitors or TVs. Additionally, it runs concurrently with the manufacturers warranty. Here's the long version: To be clear, the only reason this isn't a 1-star is because of the store manager openly acknowledging the issues of this warranty plan and issuing a refund for it. Now, on to the story. I bought 3 monitors from Best Buy in in March 2023 with 1-year manufacturer warranties and this 4-year geek squad extended warranty. In April 2024 one of the monitors had an accident, causing the display to crack, but no external damage (you could run your fingers along it, even at the shatter point, and there was no damage). So, I hopped on here to pursue the warranty information and was told by Live chat support that the damage was covered and that I only needed to take it into the store. Got to the store and the technician that was assisting me couldn't make heads nor tails of the options in the system for the warranty. He asked two other employees, but none of them had ever seen this warranty in the system before. Queue the store manager being called in. She recognized it right away and explained that the warranty plan for monitors and TVs does not cover any physical damage. I had I chime in at that point. I don't do electrical work anymore, but I know it is physically impossible for a basic TV or monitor (not talking those smart TV things) to stop working without physical damage, so I said as much. Gotta give credit where it's due, she didn't hesitate, baulk, or make any attempt to talk out of that. Instead, she acknowledged that the reality is that the warranty was basically worthless. I mentioned that on another of my monitors the power button barely works anymore and she said that it wouldn't be covered. When asked what would be covered, she answered that anything that is damaged internally would be. So I showed her that there was no physical damage to the outside of the monitor, but it still wasn't going to be covered. I wasn't going to raise a stink over it. She'd be completely forward with me and didn't shy away when faced with the simplest of logical counters. So, I went ahead and thanked her and the technicians for their time looking into things. As I went to grab the monitor to leave, she stopped me and offered to refund the warranty plans (prorated). I thought, "great, I'm only a month into the plan since the manufacturers warranty only ended last month." That thought was quickly ruined. When I asked about the refund not being nearly the full amount, she explained that the geek squad warranty run concurrently with the manufacturers warranty. Basically, I was 1 year and 1 month into the extended warranty when I was only 1 month out of the manufacturers warranty. Instead of a 4-year extended warranty, it was really only a 3-year extension. If the manufacturers warranty was 2- or 3-years, this extended warranty would've been practically worthless. Still, nearly 3/4 of the cost being refunded is better than nothing, especially when I hadn't even considered that as an option. I had simply accepted that I was out the full cost of the plans.

    The workers helped me load it into my car and showed me how to work everything, as well as making sure it was secured for my drive home. The monitor itself has amazing picture and usability, very easy to use and download different apps to suit your needs. Would definitely recommend to anyone working from home, gaming, or just casual computer or tv use. The curved display gives an incredible experience watching tv gaming or while working using different tabs.

    This monitor has been so good to me. For the past couple of years, it’s never let me down at all. A great cheap option for a 4K 144hz monitor. No dead pixels, no freezing, no problems ever!I use a dual monitor set up and this is my single player monitor to get the best quality while still getting great frames. I like to watch some movies and shows on this one too. If you want to get into 4K gaming, this is the one to start with!

    At the moment, I haven't needed to bring in my new gaming monitor to the store. But, having ordered the monitor online fully brand new, I did not want to add a protection plan until I was completely satisfied especially since this was my first monitor ever. After being satisfied with the product, I went to the store to add the protection plan and Geek Squad normally only adding the protection plan once the item has been brought to the store physically and checked, they were so kind to just have me to show the condition of the monitor through a video I took on my phone and saw that the monitor is indeed brand new and still allowed me to add my protection plan of four years. Absolutely appreciated the service due to the pain it would've brought me having to carry the monitor to the store. Thank you Geek Squad!

    Phenomenal Service...That's what I must say about my experience with the Geek Squad Professionals at my local Best Buy. I have a large monitor, and before going to Best Buy, I followed the steps online to troubleshoot my issue. I scheduled an in-store appointment, and when I arrived, I was greeted by multiple Geek Squad Pros ready to assist me. After the initial part, you know, the customer account verification, it was as simple as I told them what steps were performed already. Following a manager check of the item, they explained my options with my current warranty, and my decision was easy. I returned my monitor and purchased a NEWER monitor with the same warranty as my previous one, AND there was no hassle at all. The toughest part of the whole thing was deciding on my next monitor. Overall, I had an outstanding experience with the Pros at the Albany Best Buy Geek Squad. Immediately after leaving the store, I messaged a friend, singing their and Best Buy's praises.
