Fridge leaked deadly chemicals.Support insulted me

Piece of garbage never worked. I was then insulted by a warranty representative who first claimed that this refrigerator falls under same *small appliance* category as a microwave, excuse me, a countertop microwave smaller than this refrigerator as even one that would be installed above a range is considered a major appliance but this refrigerator is not. Despite paying for a four year warranty to cover my appliance that was indeed delivered, and delivered for free if I'm not mistaken, I was somehow responsible for bringing this faulty Best Buy house brand refrigerator into a store to get it serviced or replaced with another that I won't know will actually work until get it back to my upstairs apartment after of course having to find a way to get it down the stairs but I just of very effective to at least do the latter. I insisted that certainly since it was shipped my residence it can be shipped back from my residence and to send me a return label as any reputable organization would do when screwing a loyal customer by selling a defective item hopefully only Inadvertently especially since it is refrigerator. One should have been sent to me immediately and the packaging from that replacement could be used to send back the defective one under extended warranty, but if not I was willing to box and securely package it if a label was sent and would have even scheduled a pick up with carrier if it was required that they receive the defective item first. That is certainly the case, as the option to even pay out of pocket to send this junk appliance was not allowed and now my only option was to bother someone who wouldn't get a hernia throwing, excuse me, carrying this refrigerator down my apartment stairs to help. The assumption that I was *inadvertently* sent a supposed "excellent condition" open box item that of course was not actually checked for operational functionality as guaranteed went out the window when the representative had the nerve to laugh at my inability to do so and further insulted me by saying she would have no problem carrying it up and down a flight of stairs. Whether or not she or the subsequent representative with whom I spoke actually submitted a ticket for my first and/or second requests for a manager to call me as both said they did while still talking or messaging, respectively, with them but I no one ever called. P.S. Thanks for foolishly bribing me with an additional entry into a scam sweepstakes no one wins by requesting pics, since I was reminded by the large warning label on the back of the toxic chemical that my household members ended up breathing when opening the fridge door. The odor was so strong it burned my eyes.

Not a "2 Year Protection" Plan

In July 2023 I returned a countertop icemaker that I had a 2 year plan on. The icemaker started leaking in December 2023 and when I attempted to use my 2 year protection plan, BB customer service informed me that these "2 year" plans are basically a use it and lose it product plan. But on the plus side, BB shared their condolences that I had a $500 icemaker leaking water all over my counter.

Sucks. Repairman came out fixed the sound problem after 2 months. The remote still doesn’t work. Now I get a message on the screen every time I turn on the unit. The repairman Ceasar said he would be back to fix it, Never happened. So much for getting a Geek Squad plan.

This is such a stupid service. Was sold they would come to me since I live 50 miles from a store but nope they dont come to me. And if its considered a portable item, even though its 40 lbs, you have to take it to them. I will never buy this service again.

    Best Buy Failure!!!

Bought this on a $650 GE Opal Nugget Ice Maker. Despite regular cleanings, and a deep thorough cleaning, I continue to have mold and algae grow inside the tank and inside the unit. Contacted GE, and they were no help. but wait, I have a Geek Squad Protection plan! TWO WEEKS ago I contacted them, they setup an appointment, and the service provider called me yesterday and said they don't service counter top ice makers and can't get parts for them. Why was this setup to begin with??? So I call back today, and a GS rep tried to find another company, but could not, so he was going to have the dispatch department contact me to setup an appointment. They called me just now, and said "sorry, this issue isn't covered by your warranty." It's an obvious defect with the unit, because I clean it and run high quality bottled water through it. I am furious!!! $725 I spent last year on this, and it's a health hazard. Further research reveals that this is a common issue. Look at the 209 one star reviews for the unit and see how many people have this issue. If you already have one and end up with this issue, don't count on GE or Best Buy to help you. The worst customer service I've had in a while!

I don’t know if they can fix anything because I paid the insurance company but what they don’t tell you is you have to bring it back to the store, so I sure wouldn’t buy a refrigerator because I don’t have a truck are any way to pick it up

DON'T BUY THIS OR THE PROTECTION PLAN

I bought this unit 1 year 4 months ago, and included a 2 year protection plan. The refrigerator ran fine until a few days ago when it just died. The compresssor failed. I called Best Buy to discuss using the protection plan to replace it. They wanted me to take the refrigerator to the store. Like, what? Because of the size of the unit, they didnt want to send a technician, which I get, but Im not hauling it out of my 2nd floor apartment across a parking lot to my car to get it to a store after having knee surgery. BB doesn't have good customer service anymore. Every person I spoke to to try to resolve this was a foreign female. Don't bother getting the protection plan and if you need the unit to last more than a year, don't buy this one.

Very disappointed. Added this 2 year protection to my order, and it said "2 years in addition to manufacturers warranty" - which had a 1 year warranty. Machine just broke down after 2.5 years, brought it into the store, and was told that it was not an additional 2 years, that it starts immediately at time of purchase. Very misleading. Been a customer for 30 plus years, but learned a lesson.

    FALSE ADVERTISING OF PROTECTION PLAN

JUST DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY THAT NEEDS A PROTECTION PLAN. I realize that is 90% of things in the store so I guess what I'm saying is don't buy anything from Best Buy. At least the Brandon FL store. Geek Squad guy looked annoyed that I was their at all despite having an appointment. Had a nugget ice maker that broke, he never touched the machine, just said no we're not going to fix that just go to customer service and get store credit. Didn't realize that you only get to use the protection plan once regardless of how many years you buy the plan for. Had I gotten a new machine I would have had to purchase a new plan. I'm sure it's in the fine print somewhere, still a jerk move. Do better BestBuy. Amazon here I come.

Since this is a service plan not a warranty, it is a one time fix or replacement plan, not 4 years as it implies. My item seems to brake a=just after the original manufacture warranty. So it got replaced, but even though I bought a 4 year plan, it is only good for a one time fix or replacement. Have to purchase it again so the new item will be replaced after 12 months. But if you do not buy it, then if your item stops working, you have to purchase a new time.

I have never see such a worse service from any other vendors. Such an irresponsible and irritable.. I had the same geek sqad protection for my mini fridge, and when it broke they send a person to my home to fix it, but couldnt and Best buy send me a replacemenet fridge and i made sure i have the same protection. after some time, the replacement fridge also broke down (within warranty period), but this time the support (who has no idea what they 'r talking) wants me to take the fridge to best buy store for fixing.. What changed ? I have the same warranty support and geek squad should send someone to my home to attempt to fix it.. same as last time. I am very very frustrated !!!!..

    GEEK SQUAD SUCKS!!!

I got the geek squad protection on my phone and their service is the worst. I accidentally cracked screen on my Samsung phone and I called number to geek squad and was told I have to go to my local Best Buy where I’m told that they don’t have a technician to replace screen but for $200 I can get phone replaced. A screen replacement was about 25% of that. I was planning to go to DFW area and made an appointment at one of the Irving stores where I was told they had a technician who could fix my phone. I arrive about 15 minutes before my scheduled time and after waiting 45 minutes I’m told the technician called in sick and I can leave my phone. No thanks Best Buy I need my phone and I certainly don’t trust you’re employees . About 30 minutes I get a call and was told technician quit. I guess he was tired of Best Buy’s garbage as well. I returned to my hometown Best Buy to just get the $200 replacement but they couldn’t do it because their internet wasn’t working. The Geek Squad tech told me even though they had all the information they needed I had to be there in person for them to order the replacement phone . So like being treated like a little boy I returned the next day and the order went thru. But wait they couldn’t let item be shipped to my house nooooooo I had to go back to store to again be treated like a little boy and waste my time and gas. I don’t think the tech liked it when I told her she better not open my phone package. She tried to argue but I had already had enough. I will never buy anything geek squad again. Right now I have Apple protection but if an android I highly recommend Assurion especially to get a phone replacement which is done by a simple phone call. GEEK SQUAD SUCKS!!!!

Buyer beware! you buy a big heavy wine refrigerator, include the extra protection and the only protection is if you can manage to pick it up, shove it in your car, drive it to the store and drop it on the counter for service!

I tried to schedule in home repair for a double door wine cooler and the agent tells me the product does not qualify for in house service and I need to take it to the store. Do they really expect me to pack a wine cooler the size of the oven in my car and take it to a store for an inspection. Absolutely ridiculous!!!

We got the extended warranty for our opal ice maker . This would be the second time we did. The first time we were refunded for the warranty we didn’t use since the ice maker was still under manufacturer warranty but this time when the ice maker broke after only having it since May we did not get refunded for the extended warranty we didn’t use. Which is upsetting. It’s like throwing money down the drain.

I am not a happy camper when it comes to geek squad. Something went wrong with the sound in my sons earbuds and they treated him like he just destroyed them on purpose asking all kind of dumb questions. Then told him he would have to spend more money to another pair that was refurbished. The geek squad may be a good idea but the employee we had to help us was not a geek, i have other choice words but trying to be professional here. Unfortunately we did not we ended up buying a new pair and adding a 2 year warranty to avoid ever having to use them again.

Stay away from this ice maker. Too much for the amount of time before it starts making noise and just stops. Will not survive a year before it needs to be replaced . Youve been warned.
