My wife bought this movie because it was a great price and she heard it was good. We had it about a month before we even watched it. Then one night after the kids were asleep we started watching it, not expecting to finish it. But, it was so good we just couldn't stop. We tend to watch movies at because our little kids rarely let us focus on a movie and most movies we just don't want to expose them to yet. But other than just a little language from the period, there was nothing that I remember not wanting my boys to witness. I really enjoyed this movie, even if I was tired the next morning. And I would recommend it even if you are not a fan of baseball.

I don't know how Jackie Robinson managed to put up with what he faced as he attempted to face racial bias in the baseball leagues, especially among his teammates, of all people. I grew up in the 60s, a white child in the South, when the world around me was turbulent with racial strife. It wasn't until I was a teenager I realized what it was about and am really just now as an adult better understanding the full scope of the struggle of our black brothers and sisters. But this movie outstandingly portrays this problem and makes you think at the same time. It's an incredible piece of work!

Jackie Robinson is one of my heroes. How he managed to play as well as he did facing the constant barrage of harassment, discrimination, and unabashed hate that he did is beyond me. Yes, the movie could have gone into more depth and detail, but I like how they chose to tell the story - taking individual incidents to represent the entirety of his journey - it was very effective. As for the package itself, no complaints about the sound or audio quality. Everything is as you would expect from a blu-ray. I do love having the ultraviolet copy as well so I can pick it up wherever I'm at.

Jackie Robinson is very relatable in this movie. I remember hearing about Jackie Robinson when I was growing up as a kid from my Grandpa. He was from Brooklyn and went to alot of home games to watch Jackie Robinson. Watching this movie makes me feel close to my grandpa and just watch what Jackie Robinson went through

Chadwick has always put everything into his characters. And this one is no different. This is a must see for everyone. However, there is some caution for minors. You will be overwhelmed with emotions. I would definitely recommend this as a family educational tool abd enlightenment. Characters worked Very well to portray what has taken place. Not for the faint at heart.

Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford provide engaging performances as Jackie Robinson and Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey in the Legendary drama about the man who broke MLB's color line. Ford’s engaging performance is part-caricature and part-ingratiating father figure who knows just what to say in any crisis.

This is America's history. Important to acknowledge ourselves in todays story through identifying with role players of the past. I deeply admire those who suffer & succeed, with strength and dignity, such as Jackie, his wife, minorities of any variety bullied by those with power. Courage to do and say the right thing regardless of the outcome changes the moral fiber of our country and more importantly, ourselves. And...what a baller!!

I loved this movie! There were a few tense moments in the movie for my kids as the language is realistic and a bit dis-heartening but realistic all the same. If you love baseball, and never got to see Ebbetts Field in person then you have to see this movie. Jackie Robinson and his wife Rachel are icons in the baseball world and this movie does not disappoint. History and dialogue are spot on. Old ball fields come to life with 21st century computer graphics but you can't tell. INCREDIBLE!

I was torn about this movie. I loved that it kept the story tightly close to the characters lives, without letting much of the larger scale implications be shown or weigh on the story. However, in the end, I felt like I wanted to know what the bigger picture of the story's effects were. Well, cast, well acted and directed, this was a moving story that needed to be told. Harrison Ford goes outside of his typical zone for a surprisingly great acting turn that should be Oscar nominated.

This is the story of the first black American to play in the majors. It lead to African Americans playing in all major sports including NCAA sports. It shows who he overcame many difficulties to become a highly acclaimed role model for all young men and women. It took courage to do what he did. Harrison Ford is great as Branch Rickey the man who brought Jackie Robinson into the majors. He had a vision of the future of Major league sports and today everyone enjoys the benefits.

What a tragic loss. Chadwick Boseman is/was an excellent actor. He had so much more left to give. This movie shows how much potential he had for the future. He brings the character to life and makes you believe his story. JR would be proud. Well worth the watch.

42 is far superior to the original biographical movie about Jackie Robinson. This movie gets into his personal life away from the diamond. One learns about the different life they led as California college students compared to the South and to some extent, the North. The characters come across as real and one sees how the attitudes of his teamates and opponents change as they see what a great player he really is.

My wife and I thououghly enjoyed the story of Jackie Robinson. He broke through a barrier that should have never existed, and he did so with amazing restraint, dignity, and grace. Being the subject of discrimination is a difficult thing. Dealing with injustice in the manner that Jackie Robinson employed shows immense depth of character. We should all try to live up to his example.

Brian Helgeland's 2013 film, an it-its-about-time movie about the legendary Jackie Robinson hits all the right beats. Chadwick Boseman, before he became BLACK PANTHER delivers a star making performance. Harrison Ford as pioneering Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey shows he's more than just an action and thriller movie star. Ford's not at least receiving a Best Supporting Actor nomination for 42 was a crime. A feel good movie with much gravity, heart and soul that gives two important men their due on the silver screen.

Features how Jackie Robinson broke into MLB and played for the LA Dodgers. Quite a reach for that time in history. It also gave you some idea of what it was like then as far as racial prejudice. Also nice to be a part of his marriage to the love of his life.
