The ablility to persevere through prejudice and hate was inspirational. We always need role models to move us forward. Hidden Figures was another inspirational group that showed a community that helped one another, including helping put together a college fund.

Great story. What Jackie Robinson endured in order to pave the way for others is a tale of pure unselfishness and showed he had more character than most possess. As a baseball fan I simply wish they would have shed more light on not just why he was chosen, but why none of the other leading candidates were likely to fail and only he was fit to succeed.

    Very Uplifting Story

It extols the virtue of standing your ground for the right reason and not letting the "enemy" get the better of you. Don't fight the same way as the enemy, but, rise above it and fight with integrity, honor, and strength. Sad to know that our history was more racist and to know it still exists. It's even sadder to know that there are those who use race in a political battle - not because of it being wrong, but, they use it to attempt to stir up strife where there should not be any. They use the very "weapon" of race and bias to conjure up hatred and violence.

This movie was a heartbreaker. I really enjoyed how at the end it wrapped up the historical pieces while maintaining a solid conclusion at the end. Unfortunately, the service I get from my local Best Buy was so horrible the last time I was at the Mira Mesa, CA store that I really don't think I will ever buy anything from Best Buy again.

Excellent portrayal of Jackie Robinson's struggle in the Major Leagues. I enjoyed how this movie focused more on Jackie Robinson's life as opposed to the movie Soul of the Game, also an excellent movie, where the focus was not only on Jackie Robinson, but also on Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. Both movies should be in everyones collection!

Not only does this film tell the story of a great athlete in Jackie Robinson, it also give of a valuable history lesson of our not-too-distant past when racism was so prevalent. An extra surprise for me was a wonderful performance by Harrison Ford (how he wasn't nominated for an Academy award, I just don't understand!).

The movie seemed to be pretty accurate based on books I have read on the subject. I would have preferred more extras which could have had reflections from those who were with the Dodger organization at the time. I thought the extras could have included an educational piece about the times and the prejudices that people had to face.

This is a great movie and I god a good deal at Best Buy. They were offering $5 off if you traded in a movie and this made the deal even better. This is a movie that all parent should watch with their children and then have a discussion about what went on in the movie. A great conversation starter for parents to talk about history.

The actual movie is a very good human story that uses baseball to tell it. The actual quality of the blu ray is almost flawless. It is a very good transfer. The audio is also great. If you like special features there aren't many. There are three and the total running time for them combined is 30 minutes. One would think when telling the story of a sports legend there would be more that could be found and put on. Also included is a copy of the movie on DVD and an Ultraviolet copy that can be streamed through a UV provider.

A very intense and thrilling movie, it will keep you glued to your seat. It has no boring or dull moments in the whole movie. If your a military person and have been deployed, (like myself) it's very relatable. A little bloody for the kiddos, and a some mature content. But all and all the movie is one to watch.

Good movie. I like when they make movies about real life especially when it comes to black people. We can see the positive side. My favorite scenes are when Mr Ricky is defending Jackie from the Philadelphia owner and when the coach wakes everyone up during practice when they were in Panama. So sad that Chadwick Boseman past away he was a great actor.

So glad this story was brought out with such great respect. The graphic reproduction of Ebbets Field makes you feel like you are there...back in the forties and fifties. Philadelphia should hang their head in shame for how they treated Jackie. City of Brotherly love? Laughable. The times they are a changing.

This is a great movie but a lot of things went missing. There's more to what the movie show and it makes a great emphasis on the struggle but doesn't show what happens around the league while it was happening but mainly focus on Robinson's life. Go to the library read his bio... it comes out better and gives you a better understanding of what was going around the league and the world. or. . . just dont get the book and purchase the movie and focus on what the director wants you to see.

42 was the first time that I took notice of Chadwick. Came in just wanted to see a good movie about one of my favorite baseball players and Chadwick became my favorite actor. Great on every level.

Memorable performances all around, a serious star turn from Chadwick Boseman (who is quickly becoming the go-to actor for awesome biographical movies), and a very strong performance from Harrison Ford. What more could you want? Oh, and plus, I got it on sale for 5 bucks. Can't beat it!

Bought for a gift for a young adult baseball fan. He enjoyed the movie. He had read about the baseball teams in the 50's and 60's but he said the movie took him back in time and he was able to feel the players struggles with the attitudes of the fans. He has a greater respect for the ball players back then.

This story of the first African American MLB player is riveting and a true representation of the challenges faced during the time period. USA has come a long way since this historic event that was given a very detailed portrayal on screen! Excellent movie!

The Jackie Robinson story is not only a great historical drama but a true story of courage in the face of tremendous odds showing that hard work and perseverance can couquer wrong opinion. Baseball became a true American sport because of two men who stood their ground for the truth.

The entire family watched this movie. It was sad how a person was treated and discriminated against. It was so wonderful to see this man succeed and follow his dream of becoming a wonderful baseball player. A great movie for anyone to watch! So glad to add it to my collection!

This was based on the true life story of the great #42 and what he had to indour while plaing the wonderful game of baseball. How many of us could go through the same cruel lashing outs by everyday people and hold it all in like Jackie Robinson did.
